i'm not too excited about this album at all. i've learned to not get your hopes too high because it sucks being disappointed. GHUA was medicore at best, and i just dont 40+ year olds bein any good at thrash metal.

They used 7 strings on two songs...a few of the other songs on GHUA were in drop B while others were in Db.
I wouldn't know what to expect with this album. GHUA wasn't exactly slayers finest work. The still Reigning dvd showed they still have some fire left....playing that whole album as an encore is pretty nuts....
But, you never know what to expect.

People keep comparing Slayer to their classic work because they haven't shown any genuine change in songwriting since around South of Heaven but have slipped off in quality. God Hates Us All is an inoffensive album but has nothing that really grabs in the way Slayer needs to; I have plenty of bands to get my aggro fix. I need a Slayer fix from Slayer (please note the irony of my saying they haven't grown and then saying they're not delivering the same results).
The new song sounds alright. I'd like it to grab me by the neck and shake the shit out of me, and it doesn't, but it's otherwise solid. Maybe something else will do it, though, since not even Reign in Blood has me on every track.

Sounds better than GHUA.........its got the old school feel IMO. Reminds me of Divine Intervention or Seasons in the Abyss......hell even Reign In Blood. Solos are sick. I cant wait, it should be good. Lyrics were........

I like shitting in everyone's Slayer Sundae, so I'll reiterate that GHUA is still my favorite album of theirs, and it's probably the only one I've listened to all the way through more than 3 times.
New song's kinda boring, but I can see how they tried to go back to older stuff.

If you're gonna sing about satan that has to come with a double cheese filling! If you want deep, educated and profound ask PST 88 to pen the words or something!
People keep saying how their albums aren't as good as they used to be but what bands are? Just about every band has dipped at some point in their career as the creative juices dry or pressure from labels force them to make soft rock albums to garner more commercial success. At least Slayer have kept it heavy throughout and they haven't pretended to be something they aren't! Kerry King always said 'we are like AC/DC with a few more chords. People know what to expect from a Slayer album'
