Tube heads bow down to the 50Watt output vintage Webster amp.
I found this thing at a church yard sale today for $5. The church just had their PA replaced with a new system so they sold this thing for dirt cheap. Once in a life time find. It's dirty as hell but it works. I think it has to be from the 50's-60's era.
Check this!
Vintage tubes!
more tubes
Awsome but dirty.
Even more tubes!
Will be cleaned and inspected soon.
Just look at those knobs I've never seen anything like it. Its got 4 6L6 power tubes. Seems it can be used as a guitar amp too.
It a unreal find. I'm still shocked I got it for $5

Make it a high-gain monster or a smooth jazz amp and sell it to me!

There is so much I could do for this amp, but from research it seems it is worth more in its present dirty condition
There are so many things I could do to this amp. Smooth jazz or metal moster indeed. I'm so tempted to use it for myself. I love modern S.S. amp tones but this... Its classic! Its the grand daddy of all tube amps.

Condish?... Condition?
What do you mean by condish? If is a brand, I've never heard of it before.
Either way, I must decide if i'm going to modify this beast into a guitar amp or sell it as is. Its a PA system system at heart, but add a bit of boost and a emp matched jack and it becomes a guitar amp easy.

Haha,condish-condition;Twas bullshiting.
You may as well mod it for yourself, and keep it.You arent losing anything off it.It really good luck,it would be a shame to let go of her,IMO ofcourse.
And mod it for a guitar amplifier, you can get more use out of it than a P.A.Sounds like fun!!

I think I will keep and mod it for myself, unless the price becomes right I'm willing to bet I can get smooth tones of Heaven and flames O'distortion from Hell if I do this amp right.
It doesn't get much more simple or tube driven then this amp.

Well, it seems it is worth far more then I thought. Its about to be sold on Ebay. I told a few people online that I was thinking of turning it into a guitar amp and they were horrified. Its worth more as is then as a guitar amp. I decided to let this old beauty go to someone that can love it more then I can.

It's only worth what someone will pay for it. I guess that applies to almost everything really. Ebay is a great place to learn about the worth of something. Most other Webster amps sell for the same price.
Remember, I only pay $5 for it. $280 is a good profit.

5 dollars... they nag us all the time about blashpemy and so on, drone-drone-drone, and at first turn what do we find? All together now:
[..........]
275 dollars worth of profit... that's one month in my apparment right there, congrats.
Say, why is it worth so much more without the axe-amp modification? Is it just the same old song about original being best?

its probably worth more normal because its stock...i guess its like having an original 69 mustang, or a 69 mustang that someone has put nitro and 'too fast too furious-ed' it. the tr00 people in the cars (or amp in this case) want it the way its supposed to be
so yea, same old song

It would have been like modifying a vintage Marshall amp into a record player. I would have destroyed the orginal voice and design of the amp had I turned it into a guitar amp.
Their are other old tubes amps that are better suited to be turned into guitar amps. Plus they cost far less and are easier to find.

Lol, all I was saying is that some old PA/hi-fi amps are so rare and prized that it is better to sell them out to someone that really loves them. Other common and less prized ( and far cheaper in price ) old PA/hi-fi amps would be a better choice to modify into a guitar/bass amp. Look at the other listings that my amp was in on ebay. About 80% of other vintage PA amps sell for about $20-$40 and would make an ideal guitar amp and be worth more once modified.
These old PA amps can be modified into super high gain metal amps very easily. Don't think for a second that because it is old that it can't produce a good high gain metal tone. Its all in the way you modify the amp.
Think of it like this. Would you rather someone modify a B-52 tube amp or a Engl tube amp into a PA/hi-fi amp? Wouldn't you like the chance to save the Engl from that fate? I would rather someone turn the B-52 amp into something else other than change an original quality amp into something else.

The point is probably yours, Soul; what I balked on was the wording "cheaper and easier to find" - prices of 5 dollars and good old tube amps simply don't mix.
And certainly those old amps can be superb for metal - there's a reason that I always have one of the lead channels on my amp set up to sound like something revived from the 60's

leave super vintage stuff as super vintage stuff.
if you want a good board for a mod project buy an old peavey vtm or an ada mp-1 or something.
