Electric Sitar
I don't this belongs in the Guitar Forum, so I'm posting this here.
I'm looking for an electric sitar. I try searches and I get either hiring services or reviews on psychedelic indie music.
Anyone know where the fuck I can find one?

Haha.
Good idea.
I'll go travel to the Himalayas or something, seek out the Sitar Sage and become his protege then graduate when I'm 64 years old.

If that even exists it would probably cost quite a bit. I would go with the synth/effect idea... well the sage idea is pretty good too

Yeah, I perhaps will either go with the synth idea.
The one Matterthief posted looks a bit flawed in design, and I forgot to mention I'm left-handed and very much a lefty purist. Perhaps I'll need to go custom if I want a lefty electro-sitar.
I wonder if Dariusz has been to see the Sage?
...Unless someone knows where I can get a lefty sitar from.

If you're hoping for a 'traditional' sitar (big long neck, bowl body at the end), with pickups, then you'll be disappointed- that design Mattertheif showed is how an electric sitar is, im sure you could find a lefty version though!

Yeah, I'm not really looking into an original acoustic sitar, just that unique Eastern twang. I would actaully prefer electric, because then I can amplify it without funny positioned mics. I could get up and walk around with it if I was playing it live, which would be likely. If I ever get hold of one, I'll probably write songs where I just play sitar and my co-guitarist just plays normal electric.

I've seen traditional sitar's with a pickup attached. And if all else fails, mic it up.
