Triple Rectifier vs. 5150

Which one do you guys recomend? The Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier or the Peavey 5150 (aka 6505).

If I had the money, I still wouldn't go for the Mesa, I'd still get a 5150 or a JSX(probably). Consider Engl's and the Madison Divinity too, both very high gain amps(Divinity is more sterile than Engls, so considering you're interest in a 5150 or a Mesa it's probably what you'd like too).

i know u guys are going to flame me for this but i pesonally like krank amps, engl amps i here are awesome, but out of the two go with a mesa, it has more gain and sounds better than the 5150 in my opinion.

Man i'm so conflcted. I love the low crunch I get out of the Triple Rec but I love the sharp highs I get out of the 5150.

i like 5150's more than rectos... i've had both... but i like engl's more, and they're the same price as mesa's in the u.s. and even cheaper than mesa outside of the u.s.

Haha well thats a given now isn't it

What DeathCS said. Money wise the 5150, but I like the sound of a Mesa more. And Engl's sound better than both put together.

buy the dual and sell it for 1500.... atleast it sounds to me that 1000 is pretty cheap they go for 2400 euros new in holland.

he's in vegas... you could get a new dual for like $1600-1700-ish these days in the u.s.a. so $1,000 is a fair price for a decent condition recto... but with a roadcase and new tubes, that does sweeten the deal. so for a grand, i say it's not a bad deal at all. even if you end up not liking the recto, you'll still be able to turn around and sell it, for as much, maybe even a little more.

i have had a dual recto, and i currently have a powerball. needless to say i greatly preffer the powerball. but i wouldnt discredit the rectos, they're good amps.

Sure are, Jerry pretty much uncovered Madison's whole cheap ass scam.. thus drilling their shitty company down to the ground. Just search Madison Divinity on Harmony Central..

YOU GOTTA LOVE DUCK TAPE AND KNOBS THAT DON'T WORK! YEAH!

i say 5150...but that is cuz i have one...i'm pretty sure I played a triple rect and wasn't to impressed...i've never really like their distortion...5150 is good for thrash though...I managed to get a killer thrash tone the other day...sounded like exodus from bonded by blood or metallica from kill 'em all...was pretty cool.

Get a Randall, i played one in the music store the other day i nutted in my pants. I've never played with a Mesa but i heard they were damn good, but no bargain price . Same with the Randalls.

alright if you insist.

Pre-Gain (both rhythm and lead): 8.1~8.2
Bass: 4
Mid: 3.8
Tremble: 8.5
Post-Gain: Whatever I want for volume...
Resonance: 0.9
Presence: 0.9

oh and rhythm has bright and crunch on...hope that helps you out.

If you crank that with those settings you're going to get a pile of mushy feedbacky shite tone.

Yeah lots of treble sounds wicked at low volumes but if you bring that to a rehearsal with a loud drummer you'll find that it's simply way too much treble and not enough mids, the cymbals will eat you alive.

yeah once I get home for the summer I intend to test the full blunt of my 5150...place I'm at now I can't be insanely loud...at home I have a lot more room and there is a shitload more space between neighbors...the settings are still good though if you are playing around to like a CD though.
