Guitar Hero
So if any of you all have played this, what do you think about it? I bought it when it first came out and I can't wait for part 2. Do you think this cna be used as a tool to help train newer guitarist?

At best, it can used to train a person's sense of rhythm. Other than that, it's completely useless. Fun little game though.

It's hard not to feel like a retard holding that plastic guitar. But at that point I'm like fuck it. I stand front and center in front of the TV, nice wide base at the legs and thrash as if I were playing in front of a million people. I can't wait to see what part 2 has in store. I know it's cheaper, but they still won't use the licensed music this time around as well. I read somewere they may have 2 tracks, a rhythm and lead, or rhythm and bass. I am waiting untill we can finally plug some shit like this online and jam together, that would be cool. Drum Hero, Bass Hero, Karaoke Hero, meet in one big chat room and jam.

I was a at best buy and they had a this game set up to demo it or whatever and I had never seen and it was playing some black sabbath so i looked over. Whats funny is I sucked really bad at a virtual rendition of something I can with great ease do in real life on a real guitar, play IRON MAN... the game is bassically DDR with a guitar mask on and DDR is very gay. It was kinda fun i guess, oh well maybe i just dont care for video games to much anymore or maybe I didnt like the sg controller. an RG or V would have been cooler

the best thing about Guitar Hero for begiinning guitarists is the pinky usage...I've been playing for 3 years and I just started using my pinky extensively last year and i must say Guitar Hero helped build up some strength and dexterity with all my fingers...especially on "Bark at the Moon" on hard...wooo that solo is hard

I am sure they will pick up on that too. The first one comes bundled with the game. But part 2 will have different buying options, and I bet they will offer a newer stand alone guitar. All they need to do is redesign the plastic a bit.

It is pretty damn cool. Not all guitarist like it I found out though. Like someone said above it really makes you use your pinky finger. And there are 5 fret buttons, so they do a pretty good job on the more difficult songs about making you jump that "gap" of moving your hand or making the stretch. It is funny too songs you can do great in real life you struggle with a bit at first. Unfortunatly there is no practice mode, and no way other than playing the song enough times to kind of get a feel and remember where the notes are going to be. Part 2 is supposed to have practice and looping.
