Effects Loop??

I recently was trying to record some jazz/fusion type stuff live with a couple of people at school. I brought my peavey triple x head and behringer v-ampire head. Now I figured I would use the behringer head as my effects unit, since they are pretty decent. So I plugged a guitar cable from the effects send output on my triple x to the input of the behringer, and from the output of the behringer i hooked a cable to the effects return on my amp. The result was no sound (well, very little, almost non-audible) when the amp had the effects loop turned on but was fine with it off. Can somebody help me?

use a whirlwind amp selecter to switch between the two heads or have both playing at the same time. but ithink u have to have another cab to do this.

I don't want to switch between them. I want to use the behringer as my effects unit.

Just a stab at it.

hmm does the Triple X head have a volume know for the effects loop? Like a send out volume, and a return volume? Cause i know you definately have to tinker with that to get it. (if you have it)

And i would recommend you probably not do this. To me sounds like a baaaaad idea. hah But hey thats just a hunch.

What about running the behringer before the triple x? it says in the manual not to use it in the effects loop...

v-ampire cant turn it's preamp off, i assume either.

what the heck are you trying to accomplish by doing this??? You say theres no volume, but no volume to what? Line out or are you running a speaker cab?
Maybe its just me but this idea doesnt make a whole lot of sense.

Basically it seems like he is trying to use his half stack and since the xxx either doesn't have effects or shitty ones, he wants to use the behringer ones. I can see putting this together, it just seems like a not very good idea.
