So i setup my rig last nast (engl 530-engl 920 poweramp)at band practice and when i turned it on everything was very very quiet, so we plugged my preamp into a PA poweramp and went with that, it worked but meh

Ive been lugging this rig around recently with out a rack case so i guess it serves me right

how much will it cost to replace my tubes if that needs to happen? (my poweramp has 8 tubes)

8 tubes!? 8 power tubes or 4 power tubes and 4 filter tubes? If its just one power tube then you will only have to replace 2 ( matched ) tubes, but you might as well replace all 4 at once if it is the power tubes and that is going to cost at least over $100. If its a filter tube then you will only have to replace that one tube. It will not cost that much.

You people and your crazy tubes S.S. has its issues too but they are very dependable. I love tubes too but I had to let them go.

You have two channels at 50watts, are both sides equally quiet? Check to make sure all tubes light up properly, maybe pull them and put them back in. Its got two matched duets of powertubes, you should only need to change two if thats the problem, whichever side. I bought a matched quad of JJ's for 60$ from Doug's. Make sure its cooled down too before moving it after jamming.

You have a 920? does it have an insane amount of bass? I just played mine nexto a powerball and it had 10 times more bass. maybe the JJ's in it have something to do with it

i think that poweramp runs el84's which are basically mini el34's so you need twice as many to pump out the same wattage.

this is some freaky shit i have going on here:

ok so before i head off to band practice earilier on this evening i plug everything in and this time instead of plugging into the RIGHT side i plugged into the LEFT side, things started to work and i was pleased

so i haul her over to my drummers house and i plug into the left side, all i get is a very very weak single which is practically all feed back

then i plugged into the RIGHT side again, and it worked perfectly, WHAT THE FUCK IS UP WITH THIS SHIT BOISE?
