With 'Reinkaos' finally recorded and released I also realize that there is nothing left for me to do with DISSECTION. We have succeeded with our task to manifest, in essence, a truly Satanic record blessed by the dark gods and we have succeeded with our goal to manifest a truly Satanic band! My goal was to bring back DISSECTION with full force and to make it the Satanic unit I always wanted it to be and the tool for completing the personal black magical work that was started many years before. With 'Reinkaos' this has all been achieved and I’m very, very pleased with the result. It wouldn’t even be desirable for me to follow it up since everything that I ever wanted to express is in there. That's why we now have decided that this is the time to move on and where DISSECTION no longer will be an active band. So it's a great victory for me to move beyond this phase of personal becoming. With 'Reinkaos' we have reached the ending chapter. DISSECTION's work is done and this is our legacy.'
DISSECTION's June 24 in Stockholm, Sweden, dubbed "Midsummer Massacre '06", will be filmed and recorded for a "massive DVD production" and a live album.

Right. They definitely didn't have a long lull when Jon was in prison and a third, mediocre album. That certainly wasn't a part of their career. Note that he didn't say 'catalogue.'
This doesn't mean shit to me. I pretty much forgot that they were back together until just now. And all the Satanic 'dark gods' crap and the assumption that it's possible to make a 'perfect album' and then just quit is borderline mystical in the worst way possible.

hm. not really into them. they have some nice parts here and there, well, some REALLY nice guitar parts in some areas, really nice.. they have quite bad reviews on the new album. as for what the frontman said above...  .
so they put out two consecutive, and decently recognized albums back in the mid-ninties, then an EP, followed by a bunch of nothing, expect to make this big return, it fails, then they claim it was the plan to just make that one more album and quit... after, im sure, much anticipation from at least a couple of them. im guessing if the new album was doing better, they would probably stick around. could be wrong though. |

Wow, Jon truly is the king of cheese.
I really can't see why hes into all that satan bullshit, it's ridiculous.
Might be why I never could get into the band fully, some of the songs from the first albums are good stuff, but on a whole it kinda bores me.
Heard the new album is metalcore-esque, haven't checked it out, but the Maha Kali EP was truly shitty. Glad they finally called it quits then I suppose.

Truly satanic? I think the band is more EMO than satanic...
I don't like the band that much. They are however the only leadguitar driven power-metalish band I ever liked, because they did not sound to gay like CoB. I also saw them live a year ago, so a breakup does not bother me...
Jon atleast made some cash on his short return I guess...
When I saw them live, the band and some other MLO guys enterd the scene and lit som candels and incense, and prayed to satan before they started palying... I wanted to scream "How pathetic!" but did not want to get beat up by the mob or killed

I don't understand why these "Black Metalers" hate gays so much. Being gay is sinful and apparently is an act so perverse that even they (the BM population) can't even be evil enough to do it. Aren't they all about sining against the heavens and doing other mildly preverse things? They should be on the same team fighting against the heavens! And according to the majority of the residents in the Bible Belt, God hates faggots..so why kill them when they're on your team?

Thing is, Dissection were one of the few black metal acts worth the listen. If you don't pay attention to the bullshit that comes out of Jon's mouth, they are a great band.
I can't say anything for the new album, being as I didn't even know it came out.........
