If I played the G minor pentatonic but from A# to A# would that be a mode of the original scale?


Also do scales like the harmonic minor and melodic minor have modes and do they have names?

pretty sure every scale can have modal variants.. but i never learned about anything other than harmonic minor and the normal major scale modes.

I made an entry into the Sweeps and Scales thread recently. G look up your modes there.

A mode is basically a scale within a scale.

Say I have this scale:

A B C# D E F G A

which is actually A Hindu.

If you start from D instead and go through to D, that is D Melodic Minor.

D E F G A B C# D

Oh, thanks for remembering that mode chart. It was originally from someone's sig', and I just started the thread to thank whoever it was who had it. It is useful, I suppose.
