Death, Carcass, Slayer best metal bands ever. It sucks how all these trendy pop bands like korn, slipknot etc are brainwashing the youth to think this is Metal. I young punk came up to me in the pub and tried telling me slipknot were better than Cynic, shit like that.
Oh well true metal bands live forever while trends come and go.

No, its because its pop-metal if you want to call it something metal. Its made for tv, and made to make money. As far as i remember slipknot never used masks on their first album (before they were famous), and on that note, this album of theirs does not even come close to metal. It would barely make the "rock" genre imo.
Then all of a sudden here come these rediculous goddamn masks that make them "scary", and you all of a sudden see them everywhere on tv and touring with other childish bands like mudvayne (who used to paint their faces with random splats of colors)... .and so on.
Who came up with the mask idea? I guarantee you thats why people listened to them. They were going absolutly nowhere without them. So either the record company or They decided that putting on some stupidass masks would make them memorable and something unique.
It worked, but it also made a lot of people hate them even MORE!
Enough of this, i just get all wound up when i heard the words "why isnt slipknot metal"

Slipknot are original,they get a lot of kids into metal,and they are no damn worse than other shit I hear on the radio.Who the fuck cares.They are succesfull in what they do,and good on them.So what If they are out of your musical taste's.People do not have to like the same music as you,and by no means that makes them any worse than you.I dislike their music,but it wouldnt matter if I did.
Get on ebay and check out some deals,if you want to but new then consider.
RG321's are great for the price,and you could afford to put some EMG's in there.That sounds like your best bet.
Some Jackson js30's series guitars are ok,they are cheap too.
ESP LTD's are another cheap bet.
low end shecter's are decent,as are washburns.
