Carcass Heartwork tone/Slayer lead sound
Q1. Can anyone suggest how i would set my amp up for a Carcass Heartwork like tone. I'm running peavey valveking through a Marshall 1960a cabinet.
Q2. Also i'm after a ballsy lead sound, like Slayer's Seasons in the Abyss (the song). Sounds like theres a bit of of delay. Any suggested settings?

Twist knobs till it sounds like slayer. Shouldn't be that difficult.

This is probably my first mini rant but why the hell do people keep posting threads like this? Its fucking pointless seriously.

This is quite right. Its called experimenting. Its not that hard to figure out how a band gets their sound. They are all probably using a hand full of the same damn amps, and using the basics of eq is how you find out. damn.
If they have delay on their guitars, add delay and play with the timings.
This just must literally be a noob question. Funny how i can "sound" like every band i've ever liked, and i've never asked anybody how to do it...
Sorry if you think i'm busting you're ballz. I kind of am, but more for all the zillions of other people that ask this same question a day.

These are the responses that make me hate coming to this forum sometimes.

Hey dude, for some people, it is. Weren't youa n00b once? Didn't you get advice or some form of feedback from somebody when you were still learning? I mean I am sure SOMEWERE you had to be pointed in a direction with someones feedback.

You know there are all types of players and people out there. There are peopel who are new to guitar, new to foums, or both in some cases. I admit, some people may have not done any/the proper research, and for some this is the first and quickest idea they came up with to get an answer to a question. But I mean, this is a semi-public forum, so I mean, if someone wants to ask a question, as long as it is in the correct area, leave it be. I hate coming here sometimes because it always feels like an elitest type of attitude is always spewed towards someone for some question that someone didn't like/agree with being asked. The dude had a question, he asked, and is waiting a response, there is no need to post a "You are such a n0000000b and dumb ass response". If you don't have an answer, then shut the hell up, and don't post negativly. If anything, just fucking help they guy and point them in the right direction. A "Hey man, this has allready been discussed, try using these keywords (xxxxx and xxxxx) in the search engine, and you should find your answer", would not only teach someone the correct method, but also help him discover the answer themselves. All you are doing is adding another pointless note to the thread and the dude may get his hopes up on some help because he has seen his topic now has some responses, and comes here only to find out he is getting flamed. My 2 cents anyways, I knew I would be writing this sooner than later, but your comment got me today.

Don't waste your time clicking on this thread then. Iv'e been a member for a week and i was listening to heartwork the other day and i tried producing a similar sound, when i wasn't happy with it i asked you guys. Instead of advice i get a pile of shit responses such as "twist your knobs". If i knew where to twist them to i wouldn't ask for advice. So in future if you see a thread topic you don't like don't click on it.

For the Carcass tone tune to B & add a little chorus, a good EQ pedal doesnt hurt also.
For the Slayer tone tune to E-flat, EMG 81 pickups & they really dont use alot of gain, add some mid, Phil is right, play around with settings their sound is not that hard to get.

More pointless dribble. Now you want to start a flame war or something? Umm no, YOU shut the fuck up, No YOOOOOOU shut the fuck up. I had a valid point, you on the other hand have nothing but yet another pointless response to a message, more crap negativity flowing in to yet another topic. I guess becaus he's a n000000000b, he is less than you, and now that I defend him, I am as well. I guess you never had help with your guitar once. You just picked it up and damn, you were like Vai! Ya, I am sure that's how it went. You cunt! I am sure you loved it when people snubbed your questions off because you didn't quite get it yet and they felt you were less inferior at the time, so show a little bit of coutesy and respect, if not to the poster, at least yourself. Just because you are anonymous and behind a computer doesnt mean you have to act like a fucking douche, you fucking child.

This is pretty true. Regardless of whether i was right or not. You l0rdpj are a hypocrite. You bash others for not giving advice, but aren't you NOT giving advice as well? Therefore posting off topic?
Point in case. Stop whining, cause thats all i see. Yes you have some decient points, i'll admit that. Still you're whining and crying on a forum.

First, I am in no way whining or crying, just making a valid point. It was something I was thinking of posting for a while, it just happened that day I saw that post and I finally had enough. In a semantic way, yes, It may be perceived as hypocritical, but you have to look at the WHOLE POST to gather the actual meaning of it, NOT JUST ONE LINE. I simply was making a point that I am tired of seeing newer users get flamed for asking a "n00b" question, not so much you shouldn't post unless you can help. It is fine to post off topic, as long as it is constructive and generally about/around /related to the topic being discussed. It was the "You suck newb!" posts that I was referencing. I never bashed anyone for not helping, I "bashed" for being a dick and posting 100% non helpfull and non relevant information. Maybe I should have worded it better, but that was the theme. Instead of bashing a new guy, just post a generic, "Hey, we don't do that here, check this out" or whatever ya know.

You're an ass and I didn't want to start shit. But it's really as simple as turning knobs. every amp sounds different so giving the man settings is useless because it will sound different on his amp than it does on your own amp. Unless you have a peavey valveking

What the hell is wrong with you guys, he asked a fkn simple question, and needed advice on how to turn his knobs lol
Hey six feet under, didn't he mention exactly what amp he had? so people with the same amps could help him? So why the hell should someone with a totally different amp answer?

An ass I might be, but I would suggest going back through some of your own first posts as I have, and get back in touch with yourself. In fact, lets post the first question you ever posted to this forum.
3-09-2005
"I have this digitech death metal pedal. And i was wondering if someone knew some good settings for this pedal to get some real death metal sounds like six feet under for example. I use a randall warhead top and an mesa boogie 4x 12 inch cabinet Btw. Some of you are now wondering "Why dont use the distortion from the amp ? " well, that's because i don't like it"
Thanks
You got 2 people to respond, telling you to get an EQ if you want to continue using the pedal. Then.....
03-15-05
"Could some one tell how I can get a good sound out of the digitech death metal pedal ? I'm looking for the six feet under sound. All advice is appreciated
P.S. Sorry for posting this thread in the guitar forum by the way"
DeathCS replies
"well, the best way to find a best tone of something is to turn the knobs. on the pedal.. on the amp.. yeah."
Your Reply
"right...I'm sorry totally forgot.
Well, It's for my back-up amp. And that's a randall warhead with a 2 x 12" mesa boogie cab. The distortion isn't bad at all. I just don't like it for the music I play. Like Six feet under and skinless."
So don't blast me for sticking up for a newb and his "help me with settings" thread, I am sure if at the time you posted this, you would have appreciate someone trying to get shit straightened out and attempt to get people to answer your question honestly. I am seriously dropping this. The moral of the story, play nice with each other, and don't post negativly towards newbs as it just clutters the thread. There is nothing wrong with posting off topic as long as it is helpfull, suggestive, or somewhat related to the topic, or at least a respose to something else that had been said during discussion of the original topic. At the very least inform them of our expectations, and send them in the right path, rather then lambast them, it will only help us all. Thank god I'm not a mod.

At least i admit it's a matter of turning knobs in my first posts. And who's the one looking for a flame war by looking at my first posts ?.
I just replied in my previous posts that only people with an peavey valveking could actually help him. And there aren't many people with that amp. so its kinda useless. Now I will shut up
