Idea...

Well it appears that now I will have to move back to Spain from the US. As many of you know I've been wanting to sell my combo and get me a half stack or 2x12 but now I'm faced with a bit of a challenge. Where I'll be living(Canary Islands) it's very hard to find a variety of amps, let alone at a reasonable price. So I've been thinking of buying me a PodXT and over there get a cab to use it with. Would it be necessary to get a power amp as well to use a Pod? Cause if so I'd just rather not buy anything else over here, sell my amp and shit and simply get raped in the ass for an overpriced amp over in the islands. Ordering shit to the islands is ridiculously expensive so I'd be limited to the amps I can find over there and the prices they sell em at.

By the way, how good is the delay on a PodXT? Would it render my Boss DD-3 useless or should I keep it?

Yea you need a poweramp. the POD is just the preamp, so you need the signal to be amplified. And about the moving, by all the shit you need in the USA because it is soo much cheaper without the shipping to europe.

Well yeah I don't think there's anything I need to take with me that I can't find over there. Except maybe the amp but I can't take one with me, I have to sell my combo here. I figured a PodXT would be a smart alternative, but taking an amp/poweramp would suck cuz I'd have to use a power converter and I'd much rather have an Euro voltage amp.

Meh I think I'll just try out whatever amps I can find in the Canaries. Perhaps I can snatch some sort of deal on a high gain tube amp. Thanks.

Possible suggestion - if you're wanting something just to jam with and practise on your own, maybe invest in an active wedge-monitor. You won't have to buy a separate poweramp, you just feed the POD line signal into it, and you'll be able to jam with it

Yeah, but taking a cab with me would not be possible, I'm already taking 2 suitcases(actually, only 1, the other is a cardboard box with my two guitars in there in their cases). God damn I'm tired of moving, I constantly leave shit behind every 4 years or so.

Anyway, I might end up getting the pod after all, saw a b-stock at some online store and I might jump for it.

What is an active wedge-monitor? I thought it was supposed to be a joke. :P

These are active wedge-monitors, the things that they use on stage to monitor the sound.... crazily enough

Buy my ENGL preamp!!

It has a built in small poweramp aswell which easily is tooo loud for neighbours if you live in an apartment only problem is that it has to little headroom if you are anal about that ..

Where in the icelands do you live? I might make a visit during the summer

Canary Islands in Spain, my hometown is Las Palmas de Gran Canaria which is the capital. How much are you selling it for in Euros? Is it a tube-toner, how good is that compared to a rack engl? Might not sound like a bad idea but I'm a little short on cash now with all the moving thing.

It is a tube-toner, selling it for 3000 SEK and 1 euro is about 9,5 SEK

http://www.harmony-central.com/Guit...be_Toner-1.html

If it's better than the rack gear? Why shouldn't it be? Just because something is rack mountable doesn't mean it's better ot anything, just that it's rack mountable, the guts might still be the same....
The one I bought it from bought a discontinued rack engl preamp after selling me this and he sais this one was better and is currently selling his engl rack preamp because of that ...

That turns out to be 315 €. I'll give you 300 € and invite you to a round of beers for it if you plan to come to the Gran Canaria this summer. Do let me know for sure if you're heading over or not though, cause I may end up just buying a PodXt here cause I'm afraid I won't be able to find it in the Canaries. I leave June 5th.
