If you want to learn sweeps, why don't you learn them the real way and NOT from slipknot?

notice the 2's in the second half.. theyre there to make it easier to get you 123 fingers onto the sweep patterns.

Practice around the fret boundaries between 9-15, the spacial orientation there will allow greater accuracy and precision in your practice, developing the technique at a faster rate. Isolate every step of the sweep so that each note may be played cleanly and with its full tone.

To rephrase other people's suggestions in a more civil way, learning this technique from other songs will benefit you, if you can find a song where the sweep forms more of a melody and purpose, you'll find it easier to fall into the rhythm and mechanics of the technique. Check out the thread on sweeping for some basic things to learn, here's what I personally see as the most appropriate sweep lick to begin with:

e-------12-17-12
b----13----------13
g-14----------------14

You'll notice you begin with a continued downstroke, which will probably feel more natural than your desired riff that begins on an upstroke.

Anyway there's a pinch of advice for you, whether you choose to follow it or not is your decision, but as with everything it's better to learn a technique then apply it to a riff than to learn just a riff

i refrained from naming the band since i thought it would lead to a (justified) flaming because i like slipknot. i dont really think this board is the right place for slipknot tab help, but i wouldnt get any help at a slipknot board, theyre struggling with palm muting!

hmm intresting. i have never had trouble with three string sweeps. well i look at it more as a comfort issue. u need to find which way feels easier. start slowly try differnt variations. u get the drift right. ohh yea, when sweeping the best tool to use is a metronome.
thats just diminished sweeps too, nothing too serious.
