Breath Controller
You know that thing Meshuggah's Fredrik Thorendal has, the 'breath controller'? What actually is it?

Its just a different parameter controller,in this case its a headset that uses breath to play sounds.Like woodwind instruments,or synthy stuff. They arent that popular, but they are usefull.

I suppose he would use that more for leadwork.
Name a bit where Thorendal uses it in.

I know religious folk who say that Hitler wasn't mad and that he was probably a nice guy to talk to, just a bit over-expressive of his very radical beliefs.
'Defects is insane.
Anyway, the breath controller sounds like a good investment. Imagine doing your vocals THROUGH your guitar's riffs.

He uses the breath controller alot on Future breed machine. Example those "beep beep" things you hear in the intro and randomly during the song.
He's also using the breath controller during the second solo.
Besides, his soloproject is excellent.

That "beep beep" is in fact minor second chords, which attain that really "beep" because the notes are so close they start destructively interfering with eachother.
Code:
[--------]
[19--19--]
[23--23--]
[--------]
[--------]
[--------]
[--------]
It's somewhere around there.
I'm thinking Fredrik used it for the first bit of Soul Burn's main solo, that mad wobbly bit, and the start of Vanished's main solo, with that wah-ed out kind of bit. Over that, he uses compressor, chorus and flange all in one for that subtle jazz sound.

btw couldnt you just use a wah pedal through an effect to get the same results as a breath controller?

But think, with the wah pedal, you go from 'oh' to 'ah' in a very linear fashion, but with the breath controller, the possibilities are truly endless. You could do vocals throught your riffs, I suppose. I-fucking-magine. Think what might happen if you did like a really sick, tongue-to-the-roof-of-mouth growl through it?

what the hell was that thing? haha
The special defects album he made is completely useless. Its just random noises and shit. Like 30 1-2 minute "songs" which actually make up one entire-cd length song...
As for meshuggah, i had no idea he used that contraption during some of their songs. Ill have to check this out...

It certainly is a real toy for particularlly wieird and kinesthetic players. Doing things with their breathing.
How about one that latches onto your optic nerve and controls your signal's parameters by the colours in your vision? Or one that controls the panning of your signal by where there is red in your vision?!
