Which one is the best
Actually i need help quickly that is why i created a new thread.
Okay so i am getting a guitar (my second one) for my birthday....however i have a few choices...
Ibanez RG-321
SPEC
neck type 3pc Wizard II neck
body Mahogany body
fret Jumbo frets
bridge Fixed bridge
neck pu IBZ INF3 (H) neck pu
bridge pu IBZ INF4 (H) bridge pu
Ibanez RG-350DX
SPEC
neck type 3pc Wizard II neck
body Basswood body
fret Jumbo frets
bridge Edge III bridge
neck pu IBZ INF3 (H) neck pu
middle pu IBZ INFS3 (S) mid pu
bridge pu IBZ INF4 (H) bridge pu
Ibanez RG-370DX
SPEC
neck type 3pc Wizard II neck
body Basswood body
fret Jumbo frets
bridge Edge III bridge
neck pu IBZ INF3 (H) neck pu
middle pu IBZ INFS3 (S) mid pu
bridge pu IBZ INF4 (H) bridge pu
Ibanez RG1570
(BUT this is way out of my budget soooo... i think i'll make it my third guitar.)
Here's the deal
I have never used a edge (or floyd rose) bridge before but am willing to learn.
I hardly use the whammy bar (but might use it later on).
Also i change tunings (but not anymore because of the fact that i will have two guitars).

Anyway, the 321 has a Mahogany body, depends on what you like, but mahogany > basswood imo WITH STOCK PICKUPS. A pickup change makes a whole lotta difference to everything.
Anyway the 350 and the 370 DX have the exact same specifications? so it's up to clour and price for them, then? Or did you fuck up the specs?. the Edge bridge is very good, you dont have to 'learn' to use it exactly, it's more on the terms of a fuckload of time spent tuning, and if you change the string gauge you have to make more adjustments, etc. So it's more of a hassle than a learning curve, you just follow a few steps and eventually you get there.
I don't know why you put the 1570 in there if you're not buying it, it obviously kicks the absolute shit out the other 3, but then again you get what you pay for. The 5pc neck on the RG 1527 / 1570 is just.. butter... some sort of appropriate sexual type.
Anyway you dont have much choice. Either this or that, depending on whether you want the Edge. If you're not gonna use it much, you should maybe reconsider it. I like it, it creates cool effects and its fun. I'd say get the 350 / 370 DX, because if you don't use the bridge much you always block the bridge with a tremel-no or similar, and it's got 3 pickups. So yeah.

I'd go for the 321, because the body is mahogany and I don't like floyds

If you want a tremolo then your choices are the 350dx and 370dx. they are exactly the same except that the 350dx looks more like a JEM with the white paintjob and pearl pickguard.
also, if you choose to go the tremolo way i must warn you that you are going to get pissed off while you're learning to tune the guitar and replace strings. so if you arent up for the hassle of tuning and string changing on a floyd, you should go with the 321.

Definatly the 321. It has better body wood, and fixed bridges have nicer sustain than tremolos.
On another note, where are you getting it? I might want it myself

Stock pickups shouldn't realy matter. Replace them with Seymour duncans or Dimarzio's on any model you buy.

i would say definatly the 321. basswood just sounds crappy imo (its light but it always makes me think the guitars made of particle board) and you dont sound like your dying to have a trem so the fixed bridge is just way easier. plus i m not a fan of middle pickups.

i'd go for the 350 or 370 if you've got another axe. unless you're comfortable with a floyd-type guitar, i wouldn't suggest getting one as your only axe. it either wastes a lot of time or limits your tuning, but that may not matter to you, like it doesn't to me.. my rg 570 has been my only electric for a few years now and it hasn't bothered me one bit. i stick to e/eb. i've been using a floyd guitar for 10 years now.. so yah it's 2nd nature.
if you've got another axe, like you said, to do the alternate tunings, and think you'd enjoy some wang bar action, then grab one. the edge pro II bridges on the korean ibanez rgs are pretty good. you should be happy with it. i had a 370dx for a little while, and it was a very nice guitar.
imo, the x50s are ugly and the x70s are sexy, so i'd go for the 370dx

my basswood guitar kicks the crap out of your guitar sound-wise
seriously, though, it's a nice tonewood. a bit lighter in sound than mohagany, but still a fairly deep sound on the tonewood spectrum.
and somebody mentioned sustain.. you will not have any sustain problems with a floyd bridge.
basswood is great. floyds are great.

that may be so, but you will get a LOT more sustain from a guitar with a fixed bridge

Basswood is like any other wood ... there's levels of quality. Steve Vai's signature model with a basswood body is going to sound WAY better than an Epiphone Les Paul made entirely out of mahogany.

yea thats a good point. ill refine my previous statement. my $150 rg120 made of basswood sounds pretty crappy. come to think of it i dont think ive played a high quality guitar made of basswood, i may have to fine one and check that out.

I can attest to it personally! That 2000$ Vai model that I've had the priviledge to play about three times has always been the guitar that had just about the most integral tone of any axe in that price range I've played to date. That and the guitar just fucking plays itself ...
For some reason Dimarzios seem to sound better in basswood than any other pickup to me, active or non-active.

that's why i mentioned my guitar sounding good.. basswood body (mij ibanez, so decent quality) with dimarzios.
i was gonna mention the jem guitars, too. good point, they're made out of basswood, and no, they don't sound like crap. the evo pups help, but many others sound great with good basswood (tz + an rocks).
some people make statements that are waaay too general, like "basswood sounds crappy," when what they mean is "i played a cheap $50 guitar made out of basswood and it sounded crappy. or "floyds take forever to tune" when what they mean is "i'm slow at setting up a floyd axe and have a cheap bridge which goes out of tune constantly." honestly, i spend less time tuning my floyd bridge guitar than others. it's quick to setup and never goes out of tune. i've been on the same set of strings for 2 weeks now and haven't tuned the guitar since i put the strings on.
