ok. so i recently started a band with a couple of friends, and i'm on vocals. I have the death growl down decently (a friend said it even sounded like cannibal corpse. check it out www.myspace.com/lastrespect). but i would love to have a high scream.

if any of you know emanuel, thats something like what i want. or listen to Norma Jean's "Memphis Will Be Laid To Waste". The beginning where he goes from low to pretty high back to low, screaming the whole time. can anyone tell me how i can do that? it would be well apprecitated.

by the way, the song on www.myspace.com/lastrespect is like really off-time so we need to re-record, but ull get the jist of it i hope.

Basically.. I have a pretty damn high scream.. I wish it was lower.. But, my voice isn't deep so i'm fucked. People say that to scream you need to do it from the throat, and well, yes, you do. A lot of people here say that you shouldn't as it fucks up your vocal chords but mine don't even twinge when i scream so i'm thinking it's all about technique.

The way i do it is i pull my jaw back and drop my tongue back.. I find this helps me to grab flem and shit from my throat and create a raspy, high pitched scream. Maybe you can try that, it worked for me, so hopefully it'll help you to.

I think if you don't have great vocals your pretty much unlucky and can't do anything about it. You have to be born sideways in order to inherit good screams

Yeah screaming is about pushing the air out your throat in such a way i can't really describe.

the growls you got sound old school. As far as the high screams that go to a low growl is done by inhales I think.

Yeh your vocals are oldschool as Bones said, like lord worm. They sound alright, except when you do that "obey YOUR MASTER!", that high growl gives too much of an indication of how your doing your vocals or something, and it doesnt sound all that great. Personally im into the tensing your throat, chewbacka vocals like Bones98 does! HES SO PRO!

Not true. My normal vocals are so far out the window, they're down the road having a picnic. HOWEVER, my scream is alright.. It's all about finding the right technique.

yeah the thing is that when i go "obey yoUR MASTER! is supposed to be screaming but last week i couldn't scream. but now i figured it out. so its sick. and we'll probably be recording the first song. do u guys like it though?

Maybe if you had recorded something with "ok" quality i would seriously consider commenting on it, but the recording you made is just plain bad. Cant give you an honest opinion on your vocals like this...
