Best way to block a tremelo bridge?
Alright, I searched around for this, and could'nt find it.
I'm getting an Ibanez Prestige 1527 soon, and I've decided that I'm going to want to block the bridge. Then I came to think that maybe I could improve the overall sustain of the guitar, depending on what I used to block the bridge. Would'nt a big chunk of brass sound better than a large block eraser? Or is there already something available on the market that I can use for this?

good idea with the rg1527, excellent choice
btw, i would use a similar wood to block the tremolo, so there isnt that much of a tone change and so the vibrations travel similarly

I personally think so too. But brass is hard to find in that size.

And expensive. But I don't think I'm going to subject that Ibanez to a piece of rubber or anything ...

What is this "blocking the bridge?" The only time I have heard this term is when people re-string guitars with a floyd on it.

So that it stays stable, like a fixed bridge ... the strings should be easier to change, too.

I would think that a nice piece of wood would be good enough. It's not like there was anything around the tremolo to begin with.

John, wait for the Tremol-no to come out, it should be here very soon and then you can forget blocking with obscure objects!
http://www.tremol-no.com/
EDIT: I have pre-ordered one.
EDIT: No modifications required, you can use your trem either like normal, dive-only or hardtail.

John. The Lo-Pro Edge trem has great sustain. To be honest if you're buying a RG1527 and immediately blocking the trem there is not much point in buying it. A 7321 would fit you much better. Seriously, the trem bridge is definantly a main highlight of the guitar. Blocking it straight away is like raping a newborn baby.

Yeah man. Why get a guitar with a tremelo if you are not going to use it? Just get a string through or stop tailpiece Ibanez.

the neck on a rg1527 is far more superior to the neck on an rg7321
thats the whole point of getting the 1527 over the 7321. you should know that seeing as you have one.
plus, the pickups, build quality and colour is much better aswell

my ghetto method is to wrap some duct tape around a stack of pennies/nickels/dimes. might take 2 or 3 tries to get the size of the stack just right, but it works well.
you could also pay for some contraption, or buy some wood and cut it just right.
pennies are easier, though. and cheaper.

Not being funny, but im pretty sure you could put anything in there and it would be fine- i don't really see the need for having sustain with the music you play in Diamanth.
