How can I get my leads to screeam?
Well as I said.. I want a kind of screaming, big, powerfull lead sound.. Is it a little ammount of delay I am thinking of? other humbuckers? other speakers? or could it be my playing?
Eventho I want a very screaming sound, yet I do not want that ice-pick sound
my rig consists of epi lp with emg 81 / 60 - ada mp-1 preamp - marshall 8008 poweramp - engl 2x12 vintage30 cab

Give an example of another screaming sound that you may wish to replicate or get near. Screaming might just mean lots of harmonics...

I want more power, full sound, more screaming kind of sound to the high pitched notes when playing slower parts there

Ye I understood that m3talh34d but I dont have any example, it's just something I keep hearing in my head.. I think it is influenced by the 80's lead tones
Six Feet Under, Maybe.. I basically want more muscle to the brighter notes on my fretboard.. kind of like a reverbish sound.. but reverb sucks,, I wont get heard with reverb

I was looking for exactly what you were looking for but I wasn't sure what effect I needed. I love my Boss DD-3, probably what you want, but seeing as you want more screaming leads try an OD/distortion pedal. Something like a Boss DS1 for leads I hear sounds great through a tube amp.
Oh, and if you want a lot of responsiveness to your playing, ditch the EMG's. That might be what's not giving you what you want in the leads department.

for your riffing and whatnot maybe you're allready pushing your sound to the edge and not leaving any room for the solo
Maybe you should back off on the gain for your riffing and pull out all the stops for your solo tone
or maybe you just need to practise more?

I seriously think you need passive pickups. I sort of don't really "feel" my leads with my EMG 81-85 axe. It's like all the notes are at the same volume. Just bland and compressed. Rythm kicks ass but that's really the only thing I like about EMG's.
Passives 4 lyfe.

have you considered getting the 3.666 mod for the mp-1? or maybe the 3tm?

I love the proco RAT for leads. It really gives that 80's hair metal tone so you might want to think about trying one out.

Soreu, yes I think it's some kind of reberbish / delay sound I am talking about aswell so I might try that
xdx; when I mod this MP-1 which I dont feel I need to mod, it will turn into a 3tm but I am sure it's not the preamp which lacks this something .. I think it's an effect I am looking for

i say get a wah and use it subtly. not like a huge change, but just enough to when you bend up to that high note it kinda comes to a climax. also the neck pickup is for smoother sounds and most people like that for leads, but in your case ou may want to lead on the bridge pickup. lots people do it.

I know how my pickups change the sound know how I like to use them but thx anyway
How will an EQ pedal do me good? I am sure this is not a matter of gain, EQ or so..
The wah option was interesting, never thought about it before ..

And it's not something I miss all the time when playing leads, just when doing slow bends kidn of, I want them to sound bigger.. take the crazy train solo for example, after the first tapping & legato part, one goes up an octave to some high pitched note on the E string, this is where I want it to sound more powerfull

A chorus pedal could help you get the sound you want.

hot pickup - nice sound on the amp - a touch of delay ... or reverb for those who like it better and maybe some chorus or a nice sustainer/compressor
for high gain sound u wont need any sustainer though.
you could also set accents with a wah on bendings etc
concerning "nice sound on the amp"
you do something wrong if ure rythm tone is not as great as your lead tone. i have no clue what you boost/cut on your eq but i never had problems with lead sounds. usually i consider bad lead sounds to be bad rythm sounds as well cuz at higher volumes u will hear what your lead sound misses on your rythm sound as well. sounds confusing but its actually pretty easy. apart from that you should raise the vol a bit while soloing maybe some prescense but dont change the whole sound.

The tune Ruins by Nile is a great proof of what you are saying.
There's where to start: passive pickups for your screaming lead sound.
Biomechanical have an awesome lead sound and they stick with Ibanez Jem's and Universe's and PRS's and whatever they have in their cavities.
The song Long Time Dead has one scorching solo.

i hope you guys know that on stage sound ,pro recording sound and creating a sound for ur practise room are 3 diffrent things.
pls dont say xxxxx has a great lead tone on his album because hes using xxxx pickups. this is dumb unless ure talking about an unmixed demo or an unremastered live album.

electro harmonix makes some OD pedals that give it a nice fat sound.

I love my lead tone, it's when I go from for example a low pitched note to a high pitched note, the high pitched note doesn't seem as powerfull

Most bands sound almost exactly the same live as they did on their last studio album.

Yes way. Hate Eternal sounded exactly like they did on album, as with Behemoth, Morbid Angel, Krisiun, Incantation, Vehemence, Akercocke, Kult ov Azazel, Despised Icon, Nile, Tenebrous, Horn of Valere, and etc.
Almost every band I've seen has sounded just like they did on album, with little variation.

pls stfu this is about lead tone and i told you before that a pickup is only a part of the sound in a hughe chain. therefore it makes no sense to recommend a pickup to a guitar player if you have no idea what his rig/ in this case his lead tone is about and its even more dumb to recommend a pickup to a guitar player because one of ure fav bands uses it. you know what gear "pros" use in studio and live? you know how much of this sound comes from the pickup?
youd better start some research before giving ppl wrong advices

another wah option that...someone famous...did is turn it on and leave it in the openest position for the leads. sorry for that crappy word. try turning it on and leaving it open.
