I bought one for 30$ a while back and it sucks. The distortions patches are gay. You can only control the amount of gain, you can't control the mids, highs,or lows. It has some weird effects though.

The Zoom 505 and 510 pedals are horrible, even for Zoom (and that is saying a lot).
The most user unfriendly piece of gear I ever used, the worst sounding unusable feedback laden distortions, and the p.o.s. plastic building quality made me wonder if the thing was actualy trying to commit seppuku.

Piece of shit
Stay clear of this pedal, as stated earlier, the input connection also acts as a power on when using battery power. The connection will eventually come lose from the circuit board, and require sodering(sp?). I did like some of the clean effects, it wasn't too bad, I found a couple of o.k. distortion settings, but overall, save up a few more bones and buy something better.

to be honest, when I played the Zoom 510 I was soooo glad to get the metalzone. That says a lot.

The Zoom G2 (just got mine) is pretty good for a zoom pedal.. and it costs 160(can.) so thats probably 100$US.. I don't know if thats cheap for you

to be more precise, _what_ do you want in a multi-fx? I'f you just going to use distortion and maybe 1 or 2 effects, you might be better off just getting those seperate.

The zoom 505II has decent effects but yeah the distortion is crap! I bought mine at a pawn shop for 40 dollars. I use it in the studio for effects and for a boost for my solos but thats about it!

You'd be better off with a cheaper digitech multi, the RP200 is nice for the price and the amp modeling on it isnt as bad as I thought it would be (the rectifier mod is badass), its around $150 or something. Also my bassist has the bass counterpart to that zoom pedal, and it fucking SUCKS. That input jack is pretty fucked up, like the above posters said it will screw you over, and the tone settings are really bad, effect wise its o k.

I have a 505, and yes it does suck. Depends how serious you are though, at the moment i can create tones which suit the songs i'm playing, the pedal just has a retarded way of modifying.
Mine is borrowed, i definately wouldnt buy one
