Pod XT Pro after a preamp?

Hello, I just got hold of a Pod XT pro from a friend for virtually no money, so I thought I might try it out. I wonder if there would be any problem connecting the Pod XT Pro after my current preamp and just use it for effects/gain colouring and recording ofc?

Anyone know if it's possible to turn off/disable the amp models on a pod 2.0? Not a big deal but I wondered because I'd like to only use the effects w/ my amp.
