you should look for books on recording, apparently there is a whole science to how you set mics up,the distance between each mic and so forth. i know very little about it. but ive noticed a mic under the snare and a seperate one for hihat set up on the other side as far from the snare mic as possible helps. and pay close attention to your overheads that they arent close together. its hard to islolate what each one is recieving and i wish i could be more helpful.
there is a russian brand of condenser mic, my roomate had one. companys name is octavian or octavius. the quality control really sucks tho. but people have been known to buy them by the caseload because out of many ok standard mics there will be a few really amazing ones for the money you pay for it.
ill ask my bandmate about it tommorrow and fill you in more
