A Canorous Quintet... A very not known band that my friend made me listen to.. it sounds ALOT like Amon Amarth (even better if you ask me)

Try the album "Silence of the World Beyond" ..

ACQ is atmospheric doomy metal stuff, how could you compare them to Amon Amarth?

I bought it the day it came out, I've been a fan of them for years. They have ties to October Tide and Naglfar.

Just curious, why does everyone like Amon Amarth?

Most alternative or "nu metal" bands write better riffs than them.

i did forget them on my list . i do like them alot... i know its not hard to play, but i think most of it sounds great. it just sounds proffessional and appealing to me. i think its more appealing to death metal fans because of the vocals. i wish Amon amarth had a little more of something. i can imagine various different instruments playing in there, synth or not.

I haven't heard all of timedragon's list..but many are definitely worth checking out.

And I love Amon Amarth, and have done so for many years.

TYR!!! Progressive Viking Metal!! Excellent stuff!

Bathory's Hammerheart and Nordland are amazing too!!!

Ensiferum are somewhat overrated, but still good!

If you want great VIKING, check THESE bands:

Glittertind
Lumsk
Mordaehoth
Mork Gryning
Myrddraal
Nerthus (Although the concept is based more around Medieval Europe, there's still plenty of Viking musical aspects)
Doomsword (Epic Viking Doom)
SKYFORGER (With the exception of Latvian Riflemen)
Folkearth
Einherjer
Wyrd
Windir
Wolfslair

seriously, you guys who like viking metal need to check this out. i forgot which songs were on the site, but now i own Hammerfrost and its on right now, its VERY VERY good. its comparable to mithotyn and guitar like falchion and ensiferum melodies, and i dont think ive ever thought there was another this comparable to mithotyn. Hammerfrost is a very smart buy. there are three amazing instrumentals, screams, growls, chior vocals, very well placed keyboard pieces (which sound pretty authentic) and every song is great.
