Its their alright!Tap the strings and listen hard. Its hard to give someone a 'good setting' on their amp,as your other gear makes a differnence on the tone.TSL's also sound much better when the volume is opened up.

Well, with many Marshalls, you'll find your best setting for metal once the amp is cranked enough to get power-tube distortion. Otherwise get a boost pedal for your low-volume playing.

And if your reverb does'nt work, it needs fixing.

marshall tsl602 for metal?

Does anybody use a tsl602 for metal? I just got one and I 'm not satisfied with the distortion. I bought it used and was wondering if it was normal not to have a good metallica sound without adding a distortion pedal.

thats quite suprising, hmm, what settings are you using? i definetely know that the tsl is capable of metal cos i ve played it. look at your tubes to make sure that they are all still alive and working, could be a problem there. the last time i played a marshall combo was a jcm900 and it was fucking crap, awful sound, but thats completely off post lol

Crap or wrong kind of tubes?
I know you get loads of different kinds of tubes.
I'm not a tube expert but tube tone freaks really like to differentiate between different models of tube.

It has ecc83 and el34 tubes. I just bought it from a guy and I thought it may have been dropped when shipped. The reverb does not work at all also. I looked in a nd the rca cables are hooked up to the reverb tank.

I just bought a boss gt6 and was wondering if that would make a big difference in my distortion.

The brand new TSL-100 Head I bought had it's reverb connectors misplaced, so that might be your problem as well.

Volume - 4
Presence - 6
Gain - 7
Bass - 5.5
Mids - 6
Treble - 6.5

The TSL is a great metal amp, as long as you're not trying to play some overproduced garbage.
