Best 7-string for 8-900$ ?
I've decided to go seven-string again, and my budget's going to be 900$ this time around. I'm scouring E-bay, but I'm not sure what to look for, since every guitar I've been able to afford has been around 3-4-500$.
And no, I don't want a K-7

Ibanez 1527 Prestige or an RG7620 might be worth checking out. BLS had two of them 7620's and he seemed to be happy with them.

I'd certainly be willing to do a high-end Ibanez, since those necks are my absolute favorites, next to high-end B.C. Rich necks.
Is there a seven-string with Vai's name on it around that price? I've always wanted a Universe, and it seems like any Vai model Ibanez put out I loved.

I checked E-bay and the 7620's go for about 5-600$ ( If I'm not mistaken ). That does leave 300$, are you guys sure that even though that would be an excellent choice, I really could'nt get something much better?

Yes Carvin's are really hot but I'd recommend you change the pickups if you get one from what I've heard they're very shrill.

All of those I've seen are out of my price range, even though my price range this time is pretty steep.

ino this is gonna probably sound stupid to you lot, but i think you should get the ibanez k7
im in no way a fan of korn, but theres no denying thats its a great guitar. you get a super thin wizard 7 neck with 24 frets, mahogany body, lo-pro tremolo and an awesome awesome paint job. dont forget its made in japan to the highest quality. but its tru, you have to live with the k7 inlay but still, you get an awesome guitar none the less
it comes with decents pickups aswell, but if you dont like them you could easily sell them on the bay as theyre proper pickups and will probably get quite a bit of money for them.
i would rather get it than the rg1527 because of tone, looks (except the k7 inlay), hardware and playability. but you do have to pay quite a bit extra.
oyea, the k7 comes with binding and a pretty much blank fretboard, which is a plus point imo
