The GT-8 bends it over and assrapes it IMO.
The GT series are pretty sweet multi-fx units .
Im starting to lean more to my GT-6 nowadays though.

nHoE's Grand dad has a GT-8, sounds sick. Havn't seen the Vox though, but from what Vox's Ive heard compared to Bosses, Id go with Boss for a metal tone.

I messed around a little with the Vox. Not enough to make a good decision, but it is very unique that it comes with a pre-amp tube installed (electro harmonix. 12AX7 I believe). That is pretty cool.
The Boss GT-8 however is a nice piece of hardware that can do a lot for you. Maybe even more than you need. It can also even transpose your guitar down (tune it down electronically) which is very cool IMO.
If I were you, I would thoroughly experiment with both and see what you like the most.

I tried both and now own the GT-8. I have no bitches even though I despise multieffects pedalboards. It is a quality floor based rack unit that resembles a cheaper hyped up multieffects pedalboard. The GT-8 is not a multieffects pedalboard no matter what it looks like.
And yes, it does more then what I use it for so far. An excellent machine even compared to the GT-pro. GT-8>GT-pro.

I've never used the Vox but I do own the GT-8 and I love it. It does everything that I need from it and alot of things that I wouldn't ever use(but are still nice to have).

I think the Vox is better in terms of amp simulation but the GT-8 kicks arse for effects. I use a Pod XT though.

The fact that the Vox has ONE tube in it is a gimmick to lure in people who have heard so much about tube tone, yet havent learned what they do yet.
One tube isnt really gonna do jack shit for anyone. Its just like the Marshall AVT "hybrid" series. Gimmick'd.
