Tube Amp Question

Ok this is going to sound completely noob and i apologize forehand for this, but i finally got my cab yesterday for my 6505+ head and although the monster cables i ordered to hook it all up didnt come i used a crappy one i had laying around just to test it. Ok so i put the cable from the speaker output of the head to the input on the cab, let the tubes warm up then when i turned it on i was on the crunch channel and everything but it sounded like i was just playin it clean but with a little bit of overdrivebut it basically sounded clean. now i know the louder you play them the better it sounds and i only had it up to 2 but still it shouldnt have sounded that crappy should it? Or maybe were my tubes damaged during shipping? Any help is greatly appreciated guys i have no idea what is wrong and i was expecting a pretty good souned comin out of it when i hooked it all up.

have the pre gain knob way up and the post gain knob be the knob you adjust your volume with.

Just to be safe, always make sure the amp is on standby when turning it on and off. Also do a fast check to be sure the speaker output is in fact connected to the cab ( weird shit can happen without you knowing about it ) and that the Ohms switch ( if you have one on the amp ) is correct before being the amp is taken off standby to play.

You should 'give a fuck'. If you want a proper response on the internet, at least some grammar, interpunction and decent sentence construction would be advicable if you actualy want to let people to read your while posts.

Yes as Soulinsane said always turn the amp on in standby mode, this will let the tubes warm up and get ready for signal, BUT, it is not necessary to put it in standby mode before you turn the amp off. This according to various amp gurus and people at HRI.com.

You ruined it. It would have been perfect if you had spelled advisable right.
