Until Dave goes back to his old ways I will probably never buy another Megadeth album again.

Hey, now. Let's wait and see what Slayer has in store for us with this next album and then we'll decide whether the 80's ThrashMasters need to bite the dust.
As far as a new Megadeth album goes...I don't really like the older stuff, so I doubt I'll enjoy any newer stuff. But come on. It's Mustaine. Whether it's for impressed headbanging or mocking laughter, does he ever fully disappoint?

Eat dick tranny. This thread is not your pissing ground.
I didn't really mind The System has Failed. It was above and beyond St. Anger, and not wholly bad. In my opinion System was better than The World Needs a Hero.

its a thread discussing and anticipating an album from an old thrash band. my contribution to this thread's discussion is that megadeth should have shut up 10 years ago
mustaine will never regain the amount of fans he lost when he made Dissection get off the bill
wouldnt the world be better if metallica megadeth and slayer had all stopped while they were ahead? this is my opinion and i will continue pushing that they at least stop now, while only one foot is in the grave

I'm sure there were a lot of pissy black-metal heads, but I really don't think there were as much of them as real Megadeth fans who could care less.....or even the casual Megadeth listeners probably didn't give a shit.......I sure didn't.

holy crap you came out of nowhere, been away from a computer lately or something?
dissection are not some elite black metal band, im sure there are plenty of people who only have a passing interset in dissection but were still offended by what happened
that kind of shenanigans shouldnt be allowed, if daves too religious for the scene he helped spawn he should bow out. not expect everyone else to

If they had quit at the highest point in their success, everybody would be like "what the fuck? Why didn't they release another album? They're awsome -- at least try another one, guys!". It is, in my mind, completely appropriate and almost inevitable for good bands to keep puting out more music until they suck. I think the better argument would be that they should learn from their mistakes. So, if this album is a huge disappointment to the same fans who found the last few to be disappointing, then obviously they're idiots who can't evolve. This definitely goes for Metallica. If this upcoming album of theirs isn't any different than the shit they've gotten bitched at for by practically every fan, then there is no end to the idiocy. But come on. These bands we speak of are hitting their 40s. You've gotta burn out sometime, and I guess some people just stay burned out.

i disagree, truely intelligent and rational fans will allow bands to quit while they are ahead

They aren't an old thrash band, it's an old washed up thrash metal player who got himself a new band because everyone else that was in Megadeth in the past hates him.

Good point. I haven't heard of the Atheist spinoff, but I did hear that Schaefer(sp?) and Flynn might make a technical death, I think, band. And, I can't wait for Negativa... hehe

Haha you sound like you just shit ur pants or something . For the guys that are unhappy with TSHF......Not only because I'm Megaqueer fan, but I very much like the album. You seriously cannot expect any band ,no matter how good they are, to keep churning out great albums one after another. I like the CD, it's better than the previous 2, and it really shows a great level of maturity in Dave in terms of musicianship.

i did!
nah man, youre right, so they should quit when theyre ahead. which is what im saying. this is where fans split up, are you content with an album thats half as good as its predecessor, as long as its the band you still love? is something new and mediocre as good as something old and tired(in a good way)?
schaefer made a ton of side project stuff, randy and steve formed a band callled gnostic

I liked The System Has Failed, it is better than The World ... and Cryptic Writings, probebly better then Youthenasia too. Though agreeably, its no Rust in Peace.
Lets face it - we will all no doublt listen to the new album.

Tranny, you can't quit while you're ahead, how will you know you won't get even better? You never stop writing music, music is life. If Slayer just stopped after RIB, then Seasons never would have surfaced and that's an amazing motherfucking album. Divine Intervention was also pretty good. If DI never came out, i wouldn't have that awesome tattoo. Just because a band went shitty now, doesn't mean they'll never get better either. I still have faith in slayer, 2 shitty albums out of how many isn't too bad. They tried experiementing with something new and it didn't work out, hopefully thye'll realize that. But man, you just don't fucking quit when you start doing well. I can't believe you'd even say that, you seemed like an intelligent kid. I'd rather see a sports team lose every game than to quit half way throught he season. Well same thing here. If ya don't like their newer shit, don't listen to it, but no matter how bad/shitty/awful/repulsive/cunty/whatever it is, it will never change how the old shit sounds.

I'll second that. I will also support the conception that Megadeth started out splendid, did a quality-wise deep dive into commercialy easy chewed mass production for a decade, and then really found the way back to metal with TSHF.
The lyrics are by and large good and says a lot and the music is well worth listening to.

I'm definitely looking forward to Megdeth (and Slayer's) new albums to come. I have nothing bad to say about any of the most recent material either band has put forth in the past few years and I hope they help bring thrash back alive!

Dissection is absolutely terrible anyways, so who cares? It would be a disgrace to see Dissecion and Megadeth on the same bill anyways.
The only thing I can complain about with Dave is that his vocals aren't angry any more like they should be. Other than that, he still kicks ass, lyric wise and riff wise. I don't complain about brutal dm bands sucking just because I'm only mildly into death metal and I don't appreciate it SAM

Not everybody can practice the subtle art of restraint on the internet. Very few Miscers can. It's not the boy's fault; he's just had some bad influences.
There was some good on The System Has Failed, but I'm pretty skeptical about Megadeth at this point. Megadeth has always defined itself against Metallica. Usually this means it's slightly behind the Metallica curve. With Metallica running in circles below the ice of irrelevance it's hard to know what to expect from Megadeth. And Mustaine's so far inside his own head right now I'd be more inclined to bet against him. But I'll listen to it when it comes out if I can.

hah steve i doubt youve even heard dissection for more than 20 seconds, if at all. and they too are a band that should have quit while they were ahead
i missed the later posts in this thread (truth devoid, amadeus etc) but ive said my piece anyways so

And as for Slayer's new album I do not think they can redeem themselves after God Hates Us All
