Unique Bands
what are some unique metal bands???
i just got into diabolical masquerade, which is some pretty crazy shit. i've heard it classified as being HORROR METAL. i just recently recieved a copy of Death's Design in the mail, and it is some crazy shit. there are 61 tracks
aryeon........metal operas. hah they are awesome. gay enough to make a power metal man blush, but still extremely complex music and talented composer.
your turn.

Mastodon is crazy weird.
When i listen to them i want to take to the seas with only a fresh napsack and jar of pickled eggs and hop on a four-masted battleship.
AKA wicked seaworthy

Okay, so shoot me, but System Of A Down's self titled debut was pretty high on the weird scale. I suppose they're still unique, but too far from metal now. That first one, however, was fairly interesting and delightfully strange. Makes you want to hump a dead flamingo and yell shit about Scottish lapdancers. Mmmmm...extracurricular activities...

hmm, i just thought the whole concept kinda made it unique, to have so many tracks and such. i guess anal cunt did the same thing, but they took it kinda overboard.
as much praise as they get, i think opeth deserves to be mentioned here as well. ive never heard a band combine clean acoustic/beautiful singing with such vile growls from the bowels/evil guitar riffs.

"Toxicity" is still well worth a listen occasionally.

Nile were unique when they first broke, but there are plenty of pale imitators around nowadays.
Goratory
Gorguts
Wormed
Cephalic Carnage
Meshuggah
Akercocke
Dillinger Escape Plan
Farmakon (good call, Kalmahswamp)
Immolation
That's all I can think of off the top of my head, but I'm sure there are plenty more in my CD collection.

Cannibal Corpse.
I love their unique, somewhat "solo's" in a few songs , such as "Eaten From Inside".
Gotta love it.

arctopus is sick
as is farmakon
gorguts definitely, waiting on the two from the vault for them
id say obituary is fairly unique in their sound, no one else has that voice or groove with their death metal
how about type o negative, the only band that sounds like them, just got their new dvd in yesterday, amazing live performance, and funny funny extras
finntroll
orphaned land
if you dig good drinking music, check out jason webley, a mix of tom waits and voltaire, awesome shit
blackthrone is amusingly bad, check out the song live in norway
cause for effect, really wierd shit
dysrythmia(sp?), a really cool jam/metal/jazz/prog fusion instrumental band, they are on relapse, i highly suggest them

yeah opeth blatantly stole "benighted" from some camel song and ending credits which mike at least acknowledged on stage

"Existence" is also a very cool album, although I bought it the day it came out, it took me about a year to fully appreciate. It's much more experimental and mellow than Swanlike. (I still haven't heard their first two albums, can't find 'em anywhere).
