Alright,


Who all uses bottom heads? Do you tune your bottom heads higher, lower, or the same as the surface tom head? What situation would suit metal? I like that really fat full kind of tom sound. What other tricks or tips are there with bottom heads? I just got my kit in today, so I might be asking many questions in the near future.

im actually trying to figure this out myself. ive always had the toms "concert style" just batter heads.


ive tried different tunings and i think if you tighten the bottoms tight<but not really tight> you will have a longer sustain,resonance and that sustain will be effected by what pitch your batter head is, whether its tight,high pitched or loose, low end

but im not sure, i havent been doing this enough, so i hope someone else can clarify

Try tuning the bottom head slightly higher than the top, and leave the top fairly low.

i have been wondering about this aswell for quite awhile now, i was wondering what it would sound like if you just removed the the bottom head from the drums...if it would give it a slayer-ish type sound....
