Speaker wire to cable?
OK, I have speakers which accept speaker wire, but I want to be able to use them as my PA speakers, as they are very high grade Boston Acoustic speakers. Is there a way to adapt speaker wire into a cable that can plug into the output of my PA? Because I really want to be able to use these speakers for something more than just playing back a CD or Cassette.
Cheers

Also, what amount of wattage is ideal for a Powered Mixer that will be used mainly for practice, and very small venues? I am guessing 100watts will definitely not be enough.

yes you can make your own. I had to do that my self. Go to radio shack, buy speaker wire to length. Then buy the 1/4inch speaker inputs from there as well. Then solder the wires to it. voila.
And what are you trying to put through the speakers. Vocals? Because if you're trying to mic stuff then... your gonna need a different set up. If you are just using vocals, then 100 isn't bad. I've done gigs with somethin like that.

Mainly vocals, but I was wondering if there was a way other than soldering to possibly have a stereo receiver receive input from a PA, and then send it to the speakers. But 100watts should be fine for vocals? Because I already have a cabinet and 120watt head, so no need to mic there.

What do the 1/4 speaker inputs look like? Are they the same as the 1/8 to 1/4" adapters that I have?

1/4 inch jack is the same as a guitar cable jack. In fact look at a guitar cable (if you can unscrew the "sleeve" ((the round fatter metal part))) and look at how it is soldered, that is how it should be soldered. Dont run too long of a length of cable because it will be an unbalanced signal.

Be careful not to get any crap on the bare wiring, if you do, you risk having a lot of static feedback. You would be best of twisting the +/- sheilded wires together the entire length of the cable to eliminate noise also (if possible)

What kind of connections do you have on your speaker inputs and amplifier outputs?

Ther PA has RCA outputs as well as standard 1/4" outputs, the speaker has those inputs where you "clip" the speaker wire in.
