DC Bias Adjustment - Recording

Anybody here know why when i record vocals on a track, the i need to do a DC Bias Adjustment because the waveform is in the negatives? My first thought is that the mic is out of phase with the recording playing back while doing the vocals... Any suggestions on how to get around this without doing the adjustment AFTER its recorded?

As you can see, each spot where the vocal track is active the wave dips down into the -'s. Not sure why though, it seems to pull the guitar and everything else down with it.
