Roland VS840... or other cheap digital recorders?
A friend of mine owns one of these multi-track, zipdisk based digital recorders and asked me to sell it on ebay for him, but I'm actually thinking about buying it from him myself(hasn't told me how much yet though). Has anyone ever used these, how good is the sound quality and how much do they sell for? Are they reliable and easy to use? Apparently they're discontinued. I could get a zipdisk drive off ebay for 10$ too so that wouldn't be a problem.
What other decent digital recorders are out there for around 100$? Preferably smart media card ones cause they're generally cheaper and easier for me to hook up to my computer, as I have a media card drive.
Also, it would be very good if the recorder had an XLR input, as I want to get that extra sound quality out of a preamp. A preamp straight into a recorder would sound very professional, right?
