Framus Cobra - past and present owners
I bought a Cobra this week for 1500 US$ used, its the new version with external bias. Who liked it, who hated it? Cabs youve used? Any setting recomendations to start me off.

I had a cobra and I liked it very much. Nice saturated tube sound. I used a mesa recto slant cab. For playing death metal it's perfect imo

I was checking out a spam thread at harmony central, buddy listed it for 1500 shipped in US only. It was for sale for about a week and no one bought it so he was going to put it on ebay. I managed to talk him into shipping it here, so I lucked out, especially since its the revised version. It might be for sale again next fall\winter, as ENGL releases the Invader

Over the course of time I've found myself hating them more and more.
I retubed it with jj's and tung sold and that helped quite a bit. But still the amp is too muddy.

i do, i would trade the cobra for the splawn back in a heartbeat. 
but im thinking about possibly selling the cobra and buying a richie blackmore.... and then when the invader 150's start hitting the used markets in the u.s. i might look into selling the powerball and/or the blackmore in favor of the invader and/or SE. 
for what it is the cobra is pretty good overall. but i just can't get good enough sounds out of it unless the guitar has active emg's. i shit you not, my strat and even my parker don't sound good through it, yet my rg, my friends schecter, his esp, and another friends ltd, all with active emgs, they don't sound half bad.
it does take my od808 pretty well though, but it's so noisey on it's own, and with the od808 in front it just intensifies that.
not to mention the first month of having it, having two preamp tubes burn out and a powertube blow. all better now that my amp guy fixed it up and the new tubes are sounding better. but i could have done without the hassle.
