Lamb of God
I only own one LoG album because i don't have any money. I have awhes of the wake and i think them stepping up to epic wasn't selling out. This album rules
Laid to Rest 5/5
Hourglass 5/5
NYGSTDF 3.5/5
The faded line 4.5/5
Omerta4/5 (too slow)
Blood of the scribe 5/5
One Gun 4/5 ( awesome intro)
Break You 4/5
Ashes of the wake 5/5
What i've become 4/5 ( just cause it drags the album out a bit too long)

Great.
Lamb of God headlined because - and this will come as a shock to you - they're a bigger band than Opeth. The bigger band always headlines. The smaller band always opens. This is the way the world goes and the next person to be surprised by this should really take a week for quiet reflection in private.

I'm no huge fan of Lamb of God, but I do like Omerta and the Faded Line. That's about it otherwise I could be listening to something better with a dropped tuning.

I'm a Lamb of God. They aren't the best, but not the worst. I was a really big fan at one point. Not alot of people like them because of the vocals. They are....different. I hate when they get labeled Metalcore. They shoudn't be catagorized with that shit, they sound nothing like metalcore. It's pretty much new thrash.

LoG were the only metalcore band worth half a shit, and I still think they suck.

LoG is most definately metalcore, they have a mix of hardcore and metal. just cus they dont sound like atreyu or killswitch, or if you are into better metalcore, norma jean, every time i die, or caliban doesnt mean they arent metalcore (i tried to cover a wide array of metalcore stylings), and i love LoG, the guitar players are very talented, and their playing has increased significantly with each successive album, something that seems to be lacking in many bands.

I like the guitar work of lamb of god but their last album I didn't like as much as "As the Palaces Burn" it is higher in musicianship but the lyrics are political (if I remember correctly) and the songs aren't as catchy...Maybe it just me...Still good musicians though none the less

wrong!! when peeps see the word "metalcore" describing a band they like, they immediately get offended. however, in the case of LoG it is correct. Are there breakdowns??? this is a BIG give away

Most thrash is also a mixture of hardcore and metal. Suffocation and every death metal band that takes after them is a mixture of hardcore and metal. And have breakdowns. I think that the definitions proposed here aren't precise enough.
Lamb of God are pretty good. Not a favorite, but they occasionally get an appreciative listen from me.

I think theyre awesome. Great riffs, and I like the vocals. I wouldnt call them metalcore, nor would I call them thrash. Theyre not fast enough for thrash. Though they deffinitly have Thrash in them.

Ok why do people have to butcher the genres? I'm competely satisfied calling it metal or you can trust in shirts and call it "pure american metal" and also Newhellonearth, you don't have to care. I don't care if you don't care but somepeople might care about this which i care about, you see why i care about not caring about you not caring.... hehehe

Btw Behemoth, u shouldn't overdose on them, because their tone does NOT change. Listen to them evenly among other cd's (actually listen a little more) and i bet they would stay high in your favorites. OH and i think randy blythe is the best vocalist, it's like a yawp/growl/screme

Don't get me wrong, they have some good riffs and chops but it gets way too repetitive and monotonous, I can't pay attention for long. Also metalcore is so stereotypical nowadays, there's nothing unique about their sound anymore.
Thrash is far from metalcore, even thrashcore(DRI, Soziedad Alkoholika, MOD, SOD, etc.) sounds extremely different from metalcore. But they all have the same roots.

woooooooooooooow.. hold on for a sec there bud...i just wanna make it clear that lamb of god is NO WHERE near being thrash metal ....like i dont know what you kids find THRASH METAL is....but it definetly is NOT lamb of god...you'd have to go back MANY years to find a good thrash metal band...there are no good thrash metal bands out now...except for all the old ones still touring...and all the VERY underground bands..

They have thrashy bits though. Lots of low E open. Little things, but no, not a thrash band.

Thrash metal is Slayer, Exodus, Death Angel, shit like that... And like I said before I still just consider them a regular metal band....

so sad there aren't a loooottt of thrash bands around anymore since the 80's, bummer. I wish that type of explosion could happen again. maybe it will cuz of W but i really detest black metal but i have enough respect for it to spell it right so ... hah
Long live the fast, the loud, the non-black metal style and the comprehensible notes.
That's my two cents

Lamb of God definately have some decent riffs, but I'm not to fond of the vocals in many of the songs. Many of you have probably already seen this, but I'll throw it up anyways
Famous riff from Hourglass "vomit riff"

They're alright. Some songs they have are pretty good to learn to begin building a strong picking hand though.

I'll take the time to add my 2 cents, whether anybody cares or not. I don't really see the problem with listening to "metalcore/hardcore" bands. I mean, so many people are quick to label a band as "shitty" because they hear the word metalcore/hardcore. I used to judge bands based on their described genre, but its been rendered useless for me. Lamb of God and Killswitch are both metalcore, but I happen to like both of them. And to be noted, I also listen to Decapitated, Cannibal Corpse, Suffo, Hate Eternal, etc. Sure, some metalcore bands won't be your cup of tea, but I find listening with an open mind is the best solution.

You'd disagree with me there because you're a solipsistic dumb shit. 'Bigger' in this case means the bigger draw in financial terms, though Lamb of God is also physically larger than Opeth (though not when Opeth plays with Gene Hoglan). In the United States, Lamb of God outsells and outdraws Opeth. Hence, in the States, Lamb of God headlines when they tour with Opeth. I know metalheads aren't noted for understanding even dirt simple economics, but come the fuck on.

I certainly hope this didn't come about because of MY post.
I sure as hell have been listening to a ton of metalcore for the past year. Lamb of God makes its way into my rotation every now and then, but not often.
Good band, but you have to make a mix of them, because albums themselves get repetative.

i would still disagree. 'bigger' can mean talent wise.....for example would you have necrophagist play before korn??? korn is obviously bigger in the economic sense, but necrophagist would blow them outa the water.
you know, you're an arrogant bastard.

i see the point you are making, but there is a reason why bands headline, and you dont want the "most skilled" to play before any of the bands. i still say "bigger" is an ambigious term

He has every right to be an arrogant bastard. PST knows more about how the world works than 95% of this shithole forum. Disagree with him all you want, but at least respect the fact that he knows more than you.
Yes, Necrophagist would blow them out of the water. But the fact is, shitty bands have had Opeth support THEM on tours, not vice versa. The more popular band will ALWAYS headline.
Go back to smoking pot, and don't come back until you can grasp how things are.

probably '...as the palaces burn', most people would say that, but I prefer their older stuff ('new american gospel' album, and stuff they have under the band name 'burn the priest')

I suggest a mix of all the albums.
I could make one.
But on the other hand, I could not do it and still be happy with my life.

Lamb of god kick ass. Ashes of the wake is pretty cool, but I like new american gospel and as the palaces burn alot more. Their riffs and just overall guitar style is fucking awesome, but I agree, with more guitar solos they would be just that much better.
Fuck people who go on about "oh no they are thrash" "no man they are metalcore". What ever happened to being just Metal?

haha forest metal.
Lamb of God is alright. The whole band is talented (Well I don't like the singer. Just not my personal taste) but I wish they would solo sometimes. I find their songs a somewhat repetative. I just think they could make better songs because they have good technical abillity.

Phil Anselmo was a pretty goddamn good singer and should not be imitated by the shitty ass singer from Lamb of God.

Randy's done a lot of Phil posturing for a while now. It has to do with why he got the shit kicked out of him on Killadelphia. As far as I can tell, though, it's hard to be a Southern vocalist these days and not ape Phil; you should've seen the Cinco de Mayo show down at the Back Room. Five bands, four fake Phils (of different Phil eras), three fake Dimes, and one blatant 13 Steps rip-off.

From the net:
(O)fficer (D)ick(H)ead (G)ets (A) (B)lack (F)ucking (E)ye
Song's about an experience the band had in San Francisco where they ran into some asshole cops that were fucking with them while they were drunk as hell.

I tried to like Lamb of God, but everything is just too repetative. The vocalist mostly, but a lot of times I hear the guitars just playing generic riffs for the sake of being heavy without any real focus on melody. Too bland for me.

I really don't understand Lamb of God, I try to but I just can't. Randy is one of the worst vocalist I've ever heard, seriously. Their riffs just seem too randomly played.

I think the song was pretty good, but lamb of god were my gateway band into the really heavy shit so I pretty much love everything they do. But yeah, I am not gonna try to convince anybody that they are cockwads for not liking the band. I think they do deserve some credit though for being such a mainstream band and not have sold out yet, after 5 (if you include the burn the priest CD) albums. They sure are a fuckload heaveir than all the other bands on Epic records .

I really liked them more when they had New American Gospel (grind/death influenced). But they did change their style (for good or for bad). And the thing that i like about LOG is their fast riffing (like the triple notes on Black Lable),the vocals (yeah) and the fact that it is one of the true METAL band making some mainstream impression.
