mmmm been a while, tell me what you think

Well my band whent in and recorded a few tracks in the studio a few months ago, finaly! I guess you could call it thrash or even melodic death, it's kind of a mix of the two. This is merely the stuff that we're playing currently, but our new material is under heavy construction...

So, if you wish to check out the few recent tracks that we finaly recorded a few months ago, here is our myspace:

WRITHEN

I am the singer for this band, so let me know what you think. I know it's probably not much, but I have a hell of a time on stage, I guess I just love to do it.

P.S. there's a part roughly a bit half way through "it ends at heaven's gate" where I do a high long-ish scream. Just thought I'd point it out, cause I know it's a pain to realy sit down and listen to all of the tracks.

Its pretty damn good but i sure would have made the vocals stand out more. they sound like they're in the background too much.

I completely agreee, we kinda got in the studio and quickly banged this out in three days (three hours per day). So ryan had to bang out guitar tracks, track after track (4 per song). We're still trying to aquire all of the files from the studio, cause we left in a hurry (had an interview, this is why we recorded), and we're hoping to final master the whole thing so we can bring up the vocals and fix a couple more things.

I know excuses excuses... but that's my only defence at the moment, haha.

thank you though!

P.S. I know... i'm a little guy, but I'm not that young, I'm 18 currently... but I am little, which gives people the impression that I'm younger, kinda funny.

Hey, man, that's some pretty kickass shit. Good recording quality and good music. As far as the vocals go, I didn't think they were too quiet. They could've been a bit louder, but I don't think it's anything to worry about. Sounded nice, overall. I'm not really sure what else to say. Sounds like you've got it down the way you want it.

thank you very much! yea, I guss I realy did find a nitch that I'm comfortable in.

our next stuff has more deeper growls, nothing too brutal, dissilusion/opeth in quality I guess... but obviously not exactly, since it is me not michael akafeldt.

What I meant was, I didn't think they were so low that he needed to do anything about them, but if he happened to turn up the mic it wouldn't be TOO loud. In other words, he's got some space to fuck around with --whether he keeps it the same or turns it up some. Not that he NEEDS to, but if he wanted...er...uh...well, maybe I can't word it perfectly, but I think you know what I mean.

I get what you're saying. With the final master the vocals will be brought forward a bit, volume wise, right now they do sound a bit in the background.

It's funny though, we have this new material that we realy realy want to spend a lot of money on, and time, but we're taking a while to write it... so it would make sense to master this stuff... but at the same time we need to save the money from the tour for the new material. GAH! It's an unfair vice.

thanks man! I've been getting that, and I've also gotten norther, bodom, in flames, and even death... (not sure about death).

Yea, I'm very fortunate to have Ryan on guitars, he is very talented.

Haha, thanks man! Yea, we're struggling like hell right now to get a cd out, this EP was supposed to be released... after it was finaly mastered, but we're incredibly poor and got caught up in some stuff. Underground Sounds Productions tried to get us on their 3rd vollume compilation cd... but we were late with money, since we're poor and we tried to get it to them, but I don't think we'll be on that. Now we're trying to get some shirts and use the money from that to get a small EP released. Metalblade records were looking at us, but they told us it'll take 12 months till they contact us again... and I said fuck that, we can't wait and we'd get fucked on the deal anyways. So now we're trying to get a press kit together.

thanks though, it realy means a lot to us!

i dig it, a good grove. turn the distortion down a bit on the vocals imo, and any compression you have on it. it doesnt sound big enough

Definetly good. I have had this kind of deep dive into Megadeth, Kreator, Death, Opeth and so on lately -that is, from never having heard them I now own seven CD's more - and I have taken the time to study that kind of music. You have found something there, and I think you have potential for finding something really original. I say keep at it and don't sell out! Let us know how it goes.
Oh, it might be just me, but that vocal part at about 01:20 in It Ends At Heaven's Gate could use some polish.

thank you!

Yea, we are deffinitely hammering our sound out still. our next concept EP is progressing slowly, but surely... and it sounds different from our current music, mainly it sounds a lot more mature and refined. And if I had to compare our new material, not recorded yet, to any band I'd say it fits into the Disillusion/Opeth category. But we're still hammering at it, vocal wise I have a deeper growl, and I move around between deep and high, and thrashy voice.

Yea, that vocal part is my lead guitarist... we didn't know he was going to do that untill, obviously he did it in the studio. The producer had the volume up a bit since his backing vocals are mainly deep growls, and then he did this, and it kinda threw us off, so with little time to change anything we had to keep going.

Vocals sound a bit too metalcore-ish for my liking. Then again, I also think this about Children of Bodom.

But what I really wanted to say is: What the fuck is up with those backing vocals in 'it ends at heaven's gate'. They're louder than the lead vocals! Plus they kinda sound like vocals of a very unfortunate punk band...

Anyway, keep rocking. I'ts always nice to meet a fellow short vocalist.
