Man. I'm liking this
someone put up a myspace page for it too, more songs.
www.myspace.com/ihsahnband
Yeah, from all I heard, Emperor is the only black metal band I really like, and Prometheus would be my favorite album by them, and he wrote it all so yeah, I'm liking it.

personally, i think he needs to cut that king diamond singing style out, and nay on the clean guitar. also, the keyboards should be less and guitar should be more.
but, at least he isnt bald anymore.

That was good. The only thing I can complain about would be those high pitched screams in two parts.

erm has Ihsahn himself said thats the reason?
Else its all just artistic interpretations.
I could say tom araya screams at the intro to angel of death, all high pitched, to characterise and flesh out the angelic qualities of said bringer of death, but we all know its because he wanted to.
Its all artistic interpretation, i deal with it alot, and trust me, you can obscure anything out of anything.
BUT If hes said it in liner notes then there you go!

As far as I can tell, and it's hard to see the words through all the gay so I'm just piecing this together from what little I can make out, the argument was not about why there are high vocals on An Elegy of Icarus, but about whether there are high vocals. It went a little like this:
1. People are complaining about Ihsahn screaming and this moe cunt points out the screams on An Elegy of Icarus.
2. Transient says that he sings low on that song.
3. Moe quotes the specific lyric he means and leaves a blank where presumably the real high-pitched stuff is.
4. Transient makes an irrelevant argument regarding what was in the blank and why Ihsahn put a high-pitched scream there, thereby tacitly conceding that there is, in fact, a high-pitched vocal on An Elegy of Icarus.
5. A bunch of irrelevant bitching about the posts making up points 2-4 takes place.
6. We stop talking about Ihsahn's solo project to make room for this bitching.
Like I said, it was difficult to make out, but I think that's what happened. So I propose we do the following: Either get involved in a genuine argument that might teach us something or get back on topic. The way it's gone thus far makes me doubt the possibility of the former, so I'd recommend the latter option.

that wasnt irrelevant, it was an explanation of why he said gravittYYYYYYY in a high voice. we're talking about the high vocals of ihsahn, some of which are present on (and unwelcome?) his new solo stuff
sadly i have no such explanation for the high vocals on his solo stuff

The shittiest argument in the history of arguing:

And then:

Which is irrelevant considering he was asking you if you'd heard a song that contained high pitched singing, which you later confirm does in fact contain high pitched singing despite initially claiming the contrary.
I was always told (and still am being told) to answer the question placed in front of me, not the question that I wanted to answer. You should go into politics, Sam.

Hmm, this ain't bad, might have to get the album, it's just not Emperor though, I miss them, this just doesn't have the same epic, bombastic feel as Emperor.

Changing the subject and making it about a critical understanding of the work is a pretty good way to win an argument, John. I think we're being too harsh, as is guitar_demon. I mean, do we have to rain on everybody's parade?
Well, no. But we do on this one. It's not entirely irrelevant to say why you think Ihsahn sang high on a song when the discussion is about him singing high, but it is irrelevant to an argument as to whether or not he sang high on a particular song. In fact, because your original position was '? he sings low on that song,' the only thing you achieve by talking about why he sings high is to admit to being wrong in the most immature way: by changing the grounds of the argument to some on which you believe you can win, and pretending they were always that way. Do you see? This is, I think, around the fourth time this has been pointed out, and should be the last, as, if you haven't gotten it by now, I don't think repeating the argument will do anything.
How different is this from Emperor? I'd think that, Ihsahn being Emperor's primary songwriter, it would still have some of that bombast and so forth he was clearly interested in.

how different is this from wrath of the tyrant or in the nightside???? miles and miles. prometheus, although i did like it the first couple times, and IX Equilibrium, with the exclusion of "curse you all men," are not ishan's finest song writing endeavors. as pointed out at the forum of UG numerous times, the quality of lyrics has dropped and the music has become way less 'black metal.'
for those who crave the old emperor, i'd suggest limbonic art, Ildjarn and possibly some oculum inflame, rather than listening to this mediocrity in a pretty box.

alright this is pretty much later emperor stretched even further. no doubt there is talent, just not the same calibur as it used to be. just from that song, id say that cd is on par with Prometheus.
side note/question- Is this the first time you have heard ishan play a song without distorted guitars??? if not, what was the song?? haha the unplugged "ye entrancemperium"?

I don't have the internet and the ability to listen to music on the same computer when I'm in Chicago. At least this year.
And all my arguing clearly has to do with my ego. I argue with these people so I can feel smarter than them, not because they're wrong and annoying, causing all sorts of bullshit on the forum because their own egos get bruised in the course of unsuccessfully trying to be the King Shit of Reg City. I thought everyone knew this.
