Exclamation Head pains when singing?

Ill be singing either Sevendust or Pantera and when i finish the end of a verse, i will feel this high pressure pain in my head as if air is being expanded in my brain, almost like an intense headache, and then it will shrink away. This usually lasts for about a minute after the song has ended. It doesn't occur during a song since it seems when i am singing it keeps it away but when i do stop it will catch back up with me. It hurts like a mother!!!!!

Is there anyone that can give me advice on how to fix this or is there something i am doing wrong??

I've never heard of that before. You could be doing it too loud, or maybe it's cause your singing sevendust ......he he he he, but seriously are you using a mic or just belting it. You could be cutting off oxygen or some weird shit like that.

.

you're pushin to hard. tone it down a bit or you'll burst a vessle. a quick question. do you see all black when you sing? if yes then you're pushin too hard. use you're throat just as much as you're stomach. in his early days with slipknot corey taylor burst a vessle and almost died.

It could be that, i am pushing air out pretty hard to get the sound i want on the mic. But i don't see black. Could it be my breathing? Is there a specific way i am supposed to breath while singing? Could it be that i possibly am cutting off oxygen to my brain? Since i can decrease the pain as i breathe in, but if i breathe out during it it hurts even more.

you have to have as much air in you're lungs as possible. practice a song and when you do, at the times you are not singing. even for a second, you should be catching you're breath. it probobly hurts cause you've already run out of air and you're just pushing too much. breath man breath.

Breathe from your diaphragm where hiccups come from. if you're using lung power you're not getting the optimal performance you could be. Do a search and specify this forum or just scan through the topic titles. There's lot of stuff about how to breathe and other helps.

Do you have any medical conditions? Prone to migraines? Asthma? Smoking? Couchpotato-itis? Do you warm up? Is the place you perform warm or cold? Are you drinking enough water prior and during?

You are most likely holding in too much air and putting stress on your lungs (which will make you light headed, and start getting headaches). You have to be ABLE to sing. You have to know how and have a lot of practice. Its like playing the guitar, you dont just pick one up for the first time and crack the fuckin stack to 10 right? same goes with your vocals. Take it slow, you will only get better and learn more as you go.
It sounds like your trying to sing with the power of a professional. It takes a long fucking time to be able to do this. Phil's been doing it for like 25 years, he wasnt't that great when he first started. Listen to some demos.

Well i know that i am breathing from my diaphragm and i do a pretty good job breathing and i dont smoke,or have a tumor and i usually sing in the basement where all of our crap and shit is. Could it be that the music is too loud, but that wouldnt make sense since i get the head pains even when im not in the basements. It onlly happens after singing for long periods of time 45- 1.5 hours. How much water should i need to drink? I drink about half a gallon of hot water. Question, is hot water good for singing since i heard it opens up your throat more, is this true??
And i think that ive had enough experience singing to be able to handle the power to create different voices and match tones. I sing everytime i drive which is about 1hour or 2 a day. And ive been able to sing since i was 6 or 7 so i shouldnt have a problem. I just dont get it. Maybe because that it is so recent ( past 7 months) that ive sung for long periods of time?
I feel i need to push out the air harder in order to get to the volume that allows me to match the harmony of Lajon's voice.(Sevendust). And with Phil's voice i just mix a macho man voice thats toned down a bit with my own. And i do not see black when im singing. Although i do feel like i just did a billion sit ups after singing walk a few times by pantera that should be normal, right???

Ok head pains this is from exertion in you head you are uding that as an amplifier - you shouldn't, use your throat and stomach more man that's all you need to know also maybe regulate your breathing more.

I'm wondering if it's the water that's doing it. That's an easy experiment to try. Try just room temp and see what happens. Just enough to keep your vocal cords moist, but don't overdo it. See what happens. If it was happening just in your basement I'd wonder if there was some type dampness or something that was causing it. My basement is a mess moisturewise, but I know it may not be yours. I've sung since I was a little kid, too, so I know what you mean there.

By the way thanks for the input thus far.
It isnt really damp at all in the basement, and it is about around 50- 65 degrees im guessing down there lately. Also note that the pain occurs when i also hold long loud notes. Could it be possibly a rush of blood to my head? Is blood supposed to rush to my brain when i sing hard notes.??

And as for metal monkey...... Its not like i was singing pantera or sevendust WHEN I WAS SEVEN. I sang simple shit like Starship, or quiet riot , some country and pop also. Nowhere near what i sing now. I have discovered a deeper sound i create to mimick pantera sounding voices and other metal bands.

It's a pain that swells up in your head when you've stopped singing then gradually subsides yeah? A bit like the headache you get when you eat too much ice cream or something cold? If so I get it, I'm pretty sure it's down to straining yourself too hard.
