Hi, I'd like to buy a flanger, I play doom metal, I've just test a digitech but it sounds bad....does anyone knows which one is great ? a friend told me about the mxr but it's very expensive...

you're best bet is probobly a boss flanger it's a bit expensive. (about 120$) but the flange is thick as fuck and it cuts through death metal distortion really well.

you might try a phaser as well. i know they're sposed to do different things but i preffer that slow sweeping of a phaser rather than a flanger for those low string chug downs.

Modulation units are DIFFERENT to each other,there isnt necessarily a best flanger.You need to try a bunch out.I found the Digitech x-series flanger decent,but maybe not what you want.

I had some no-name brand flanger once, it was shit. Went a got a boss flange and it sounded much better. Sold that one and bought a digitech fx-board so thats all i use now, it has a pretty decent flanger built into it.

Your best off just going to the store and trying them out yourself. Pick the one you like the most, theres really not that many choices.

what is the diferent between a flanger and a phaser ? lots of people told me that the mxr flanger is the best one, and the boss is good...does anybody has the mxr one to sell ?
