Dissonant Bands/Artists/Composers?
OK, I am starting a jazzy grindcore side project, and am wondering if you all can help me find some bands/artists/composers that are jazzy, yet dissonant and machine sounding. Someone mentioned a composer with the name Vaber, but I cannot find any information on them. I basically just need stuff for influences, other sleep terror, which I've been listening to a lot lately.
Cheers

Why dont you just listen to regular jazz guys and listen to grind right after? Cause as far as I know, your the first musician of this kind Ive heard of. PM me when you get something done.

I think the composer your're thinking of is Anton Webern. its germans so its pronounced "Vabern." le scrawl (france) is one take on jazz-grind.
also
Igor Stravinsky, Arnold Shoenberg, Olivier Messiaen
the Flying Luttenbachers
and Johh Zorn's Naked City.

Four easy steps to grindcore jazz:
1. Put on some dark sunglasses and lean against the wall
2. Pop in a grindcore CD
3. Snap your fingers to the beat (note: for blast beats, cut the rhythm time in half, unless you want to look like you're having a hand seizure)
4. When somebody asks you what the hell you're doing, just say "It's cool, daddy-o. It's cool."
Alternate name: Four easy steps to access psychiatric drugs.
EDIT: You know, I bet if he really wanted to, Mr. Bungle could work in some saxophones and grind together. I get the feeling he's already thought of it. I'm just not sure I'd want to hear it.

Why the hell does everyone want to add jazz to every genre of music on this website?
I'm looking to start a Pagan Folklore Black Metal/Technical Death Metal Band with lots of sweeping arpeggios, ridiculous timing signatures, and of course...jazz interludes.
Our influences are Martyr, Cynic, Necrophagist, Necrophagist, and Necrophagist.
There, I just summed up 75% of the Bands forum.

jazzy really isnt the right word for the bands i listed, most of them are technical and expiremental. naked city on the other hand is literally jazz with grind/noise parts, i dont know other bands like them

Painkiller (another gem band from Zorn) is almost identical to Naked City and has the drummer of Napalm Death.
Bottom line, listen to Naked City and Painkiller.

hahahahaha... so true, Kalmah, so true.
Whatever happened to innovating genres without using other genres to innovate genres?

Mr. Bungle isn't a person, and the band has put sax and metal together.
If you want to make a jazzy grindcore band, why look for classical composers? Well, presumably because of people like Debussy, Stravinsky, Boulez, etc. But a lot of dissonant composers have had nothing to do with jazz, and you might want to check out some free jazz if you really want that type of stuff in your music. Coltrane, Coleman, Sun Ra. I wouldn't call any of them 'machine sounding,' but if you're looking for influences you should look at the roots. I can add more names if you want them.

ORNETTE COLEMAN! (PST called this first)
his saxophone playing to me sounds like the braying of a retarded donkey. so much so that i created a mini cartoon series about it on MS Paint.
