Simple cheap way to get nice recordings...
I'm thinking of investing in a digital recorder of some sort for recording a mic'ed amp or directly hooked up. 4 tracks would be good enough. Something that saves the recordings to MP3s with removable flashcards is best, cause all I'd have to do is stick it into my computer to later edit the mp3 file.
It doesn't need to be a super complex Boss recorder, nor a hard disk recorder. I'm just looking for something dirt cheap to record some decent quality demos and throw them up on a site/send to friends.
I'll probably also have to invest in a mic for the amp too, because the line out of my amp sounds like ass when I record it directly onto my comp with windows Sound Recorder(what other programs are good for recording). I took a look at the Shure SM57 but that seems out of my price range, anyone know any other more affordable mics perfect for amp micing? Keep in mind I'm not seeking for pro-level shit, this is just for recording demos and practice.
Thanks a lot.
By the way, is the Line 6 GuitarPort worth looking into? Does it give you real high quality when recording on your comp? Does it come with some program for recording or do you have to use your own? Cause all I have/know how to use is windows Sound Recorder... which only lets me record 1 minute as a wav file. What app do you guys use for computer recording?
Can you hook up your amp's out to the Guitarport and bypass all the guitar amp models in the software it comes with, so I'd get purely my amp's tone?
Thanks for the help. I think I might go for the Guitarport, just let me know what you think of it.
