You should look up how to incorporate the upbeat into your rhythms. Just google it and you should find loads of good stuff.

Get in the Meshuggah!
There's also a dude called UnAnyOne on myspace who does stuff inspired by Meshuggah, and it's all super-groovy wierd syncopation.
You should go look.

Did you jack your name from his? :P
I went and checked that dude out. Not bad, I love that throw off rhythm type timing.

Oh no, Unanything is a Meshuggah tune, which I've never heard actually. It's was a bonus song on - I think - the Japanese version of their album Chaosphere.
UnAnyOne is the rip-off. I'm the copy.
Our version has a cool thing at the end of the last tune Elastic. The song dissolves into speaker-shredding bass noise then at like 11:00 ALL of the songs on Chaosphere are played at once. It is the definition of white noise. If one listens very carefully, you can dissect all the songs.
I like UnAnyOne's tone. I think he tunes to F and uses similar gear to them as on Nothing, like Line 6 amp's/pedals. he uses Jackson guitars though, as one can confirm in his pic.

.
Rational Gaze was amongst the first riffs I tried to learn. I used to just take a hold of my 6th peg and take one fell twist. Some of their stuff, like 'I' and 'Rational Gaze' are some the deepest locked songs in my brain.
