I currently own a peavey xxx head and am not quite happy with the sound I am getting out of it. I play heavier stuff but it muds up a bit and the clean is not too good. I am thinking of getting rid of it for a rocktron prophesy + power amp combo. I will have to make a blind purchase so just wondering if anyone has had experience on either and what your thoughts are.

I just recently bought some rack gear... It sounds to me you should keep the head and buy a BBE 362 and a EQ, preferably a dual 15-band so you can run stereo if your head will let you.... And you're probably gonna need a Furman and of course a rack case... Hope that helps...

you dont have to chose between one or the other

It's wrong to go think "rack gear and normal gear"

First you need to find out what you need, and then go search for it.. If you want everything in a rack, then check if it excist rack mountable, the guts of rack gear ain't any different than any other thing
