Searching for a sound
ok i have been looking for a certain sound for a LONG time now and i have found it. at the start of Warheart by Children of Bodom there is a VERY nice sounding bass and i was wondering if any of you guys could steer me in the right dircetion in getting that sound or something similar

i have heard this sound a couple of times, i mearly refered to warheart because you can here it clearly and its right near the start. and mind you i have tried to get that sound by playing around with pick/slap/finger i am well aware that he uses a pick. the pick isn't the only thing that gives him that sound. Also, whether one uses a pick or his fingers does not have an effect on ones sexual prefrence

Plenty of good bass players who use picks. This pick/finger debate is like Canadians distinguishing themselves from Americans.
Anyway, even if you have the same bass and amp as that guy you probably couldn't get your 'sound'. On records it has a lot to do with production. You're better off just finding something that sounds good to you and plays good to you in a live immediate context.

actually there are no "good" pick bassists.
there are "famous" pick bassists but theyre not famous for playing bass
for example
Nikki six(pick bassist) is famous for being in motley crue and doing unbelieveable amounts of heroine at every show, not for playing bass

well i diddnt mean that they suck but they are nowhere near flea or wooten or claypool or tattered and they shouldnt get as much respect for example

Geddy Lee is an amazing bassist...I think he plays with a pick.

Geddy uses fingerstyle, but he gets that clicky pick sound because of the treble on his bass tone.

um... no it isnt the double bass was designed to be played with a bow and fingers
