cliff 'em all
i just purchased cliff em all, its some vintage metallica with the emphasis on the late great mr burton. ive been a fan if his bass playing for years but i was truly blown away to see this monster live (he plays for whom the bell tolls totally different from the album version).its also got some great clips of him ripping some amazing solos. i didnt know if anyone else owns this but i felt compelled to recommend it to anyone who doesnt. cheers.

What the hell is that supposed to mean? Cliff Burton = Bassist. Give the man respect, he's been playing bass for several years.

Yeah i had 'Kill em all' for a while, and Cliffs playing on it was great, and Pulling teeth (Anesthesia) really inspired me to learn all of it.

pulling teeth
i hear that, ive recently learned pulling teeth as well, its alot of fun to play, esp. when you get to hit 3 1/2 bends in a row, heh.if im correct that song was something cliff compiled from a 5 minute solo spot he was afforded every show (i LOVED that the video had alternate takes of these solos).
ps my apologies if this is in the wrong forum.

There's documentation (I think also footage) of Cliff playing Anaesthesia before he joined Metallica. If McGoveny wrote anything, it was some incidental stuff that happened to find its way into an already established bass solo that presumably was different every time it was played.

Lars Ulrich sucks donkey balls. Lars should have died instead of Cliff (RIP). Lars sucks at drumming and if you have ever seen the doncumentary " Some Kind Of Monster", he is also a dick who flipps out at everything.

i assume bass behemoth is referring to cliffs "lead bass" tone, which was especially prominent when he kicked on the wah. im sure no insult was intended, behemoth knows the deal. i also love the footage of cliff burning and just chilling out, i just wish i couldve seen them when he was still alive.

BT is right, I have no beef. He was a very influential player, however it kinda bugs me when so many other great bassists go recognized. It just kind of reminds me of people who think that Flea and Sting are amazing bassists, when in fact they are mediocre at their very best.

Cliff was great! I saw the Cliff Em All on VHS in a record store, I don't know how much it costs, but Im thinking about buying it, Cliff influenced me a lot.
But Metallica has turned into "Some Kind Of Monster Shit".
I know better bassists, but this thread is about Cliff Burton.
