!T.O.O.H.! (a real band name)
short for "the obliteration of humanity"
anyways, czechan insanity. they started out more grind on z vyssy vule, went more melodic on pod vladou, but the reason i made this thread (there was one from 05 that didnt seem worth bumping) was that something terrible happened to these guys. they recorded a new album called "rad a trest" or order and punishment, on earache records. they got totally screwed out of the money, they didnt get promoted at all ( i didnt even know this was ever released) and it never made it to the american market
i recently downloaded it however, and its one of the most unique albums of all time. its up there with gorguts obscura in terms of being a total league of its own. imagine melodic death metal harmonized parts, a czechan varg on vocals combined with blast beats and grind parts at times. the new album just takes everything up a new level, but it maintains one awesome thing about them, a sort of rushed studio feel. the guitar tracks arent layered, you can hear the fingers scraping on the strings inbetween riffs...it just sounds like a concert basically
after listening to a full album you start to feel a little jittery and tense
fantastic stuff, check it out

I didnt like it. Too spastic for me, but I guess thats the point?
Edit: I only heard Pod... etc. Is the new one better?

For future reference: 'Czechan'='Czech.' Just 'Czech.'
I'll check them out, but why do I think a comparison between their vocals and Varg's is not the thing to get a lot of people on this forum excited?

well im not going to lie about it so more people check them out. "he's the next corpsegrinder!"
all the vocals aren't high though, the new album has a good deal of medium pitched vocals. the new ones better, but its basically just more refined the pod. certainly no genre jump betwee the two
and noted about the czech thing!
one thing i wanted to stress when i made this post was that a potentially heralded and loved album could have completely gotten demolished and lost on account of a shitty label deal. thats a scarey thought, and im sure its happened before. im trying to fight against it, luckily copies did make it out

Glad to see another fan of !T.O.O.H.! I've been listening to "Pod vladou bice" and "rad a trest" alot lately. God to I love the opening to "Aura & ziata".

I've heard the other two albums and to me it seems like they try a little to hard. Czech bands have never really done it for me, but I'll still check this album out. Thanks.

Forget the stupid Varg comparison, this band is insane everyone. Pod Vladou Bice is a masterpiece (oooh yeah that 'Aura & Ziata' intro, also that first riff in 'My Zreli v Contemplaci') and although I'm yet to hear the new one, it's coming in the mail and I haven't heard a bad thing about it yet. This is one of the most unique sounding bands I have ever heard. And besides that, the artwork on Pod Vladou Bice is straight up the most schizophrenic shit I've seen on an album booklet. Matches the music I guess...
I think I made a TOOH thread here a while ago, and it was ignored. Fools seem to have come to their senses a little.

Sounds like I might have to check these guys out. The only other Czech band I listen to is Lykathea.

Just got Rad A Trest/Order And Punishment! Listening for the first time now, and have no idea what to think. On one hand it seems more straightforward than Pod Vladou Bice, yet that one doesn't have a sheep "Baaa" at the end of track two, haha! I've got a feeling I'm going to like this album a lot, It's given me a similar initial listen feeling to what Pod Vladou gave me. That is a very good thing.
IF ANYONE ACTUALLY BUYS THIS ALBUM, FOR FUCKS SAKES READ THE ALBUM BOOKLET! These guys take great drugs.

I finally got around to listening to it. I'm about half way through it right now and I really don't know what to think. Although it isn't living to what I hoped so far, it sure is different. It could take some time to grow on me.
Does anyone have the newest album "Order and Punishment"? The clips they have on the site sound really good.

I didn't think too much of either at first Dyldo, although sure enough I kept listening. Then after a little while it clicked, and I couldn't get enough of it.

I can't get too into it. Its cool and different, but there are certain things they do that I don't like. I didn't like Order and Punishment much at all. Dig the vocals on Pod. They do have some good moments.
Czech bands seem to have a unique sound? Give me more Czech bands.

This thread is about TOOH, not about good Czech bands. Start a thread
The vocals on Pod are wicked.

He sounds like he is in some serious pan on Pod. Rad's vocals don't have the same feeling, they're less throaty and just sound overall weak. Pod has low vocals, too.

Yeah, I don't think the Rad vocals are quite as good. They have their moments though.
I wish Rad's production wasn't so "polished", it doesn't really suit a band like !TOOH!.
I've heard Intervalle Bizarre are pretty good, anyone heard 'em?

dude no matter what you say about the vox on rad....the chanting chorus on the song with three Ks more than makes up for it

I don't see one song making up for an entire album. I don't hear any chanting in that song.
Pod and grown on me some, but I don't think Rad is good at all. Some of the songs annoy me.
Clockla: Whats in the album booklet?
I'm listening to Appalling Spawn right now (pre-Lykathea). Its not bad, you can hear a lot of Lykathea elements in it - not near as good though.

A whole lot of poo, Darcklo. They have prologues to the songs and such, some pretty wacky shit is written.
Where did you find that Appalling Spawn? I've tried to find it in the past with no luck.

Soulseek. IM me and I'll send it over.
TOOH is fucking strange. Some of the riffs sound so sloppy..but they're not..I can't put my finger on it. I like the recording on Pod more too, its very dirty but still clear. My favorite moment is about two minutes into the first track with that creepy lead thing.

its because A there are usually on two guitar tracks and B they dont always line up or match up...the recordings are far from perfect. its pretty much a live concert on cd. ....they fixed that on Rad

I have to bump this back up. Pod is such a unique record with awesome production. Not necessarily awesome in the sense of quality, but in the sense of its style. The production is comparable to Converge's, that is, raw, yet vibrant and alive. The vocals are something else, too. Similar to Lemay's vocal work on Obscura, it really stands out against the banal, common monotonous growls and moans infesting extreme music. You can hear some passion in their voice. That or they had their nuts in a death grip while recording. I won't go as far to say these guys are amazing, but their ideas and music is definatly interesting.
Now, it did take awhile for Pod to grow on me but Order and Punishment just dosen't do it for me.

Funny you should bring this up now, I've barely listened to TOOH in the last few months, but as of about two days ago I've been listening to Pod Vladou constantly. Unique as fuck.
And yeah, Rad A Trest is weak in comparison.
