True spring reverb

I have a marshall 8100 half-stack and a Fender ultra chorous combo. The clean tones on my marshall SUCK and the cleans on my fender are good, but the amp sucks. I noticed that the in/out on the reverb units is the same on both, so what would it do if I took out the spring reverb from my fender, screwed it in my marshall, and ran the red and black wires to it instead of the one that is built in the marshall?

i beleive the guitarist for dredge does that. he has fender reverb tanks in his jcm 900 4100's.

really cool band btw if you listen to the whole progressive experimental modern rock type shit.
