Im looking for a new head, and want to go solid state. I already have an Ampeg vh1002, 115 watt, all tube, looking for a brutal solid state to balance it out. The tone I want to go for is similar to new cannibal, suffocation (pierced-dts-souls), ect. Im really interested in the Crate Shockwave, since its in my range, what are your guys opinions on that beast? Through my ampeg I can pull the old floridian sound really well, the tone of nsv, and other shit. Besides the shockwave, what are some other viable options?

I think you'll be extremely happy with the Shockwave.

especially if you want to play early suffocation. does dying fetus perfectly too. I play Cannibal Corpse a lot on it, and it sounds good for that too.

What would be a good cab or two to match it? My ampeg is running through a randall 2x12, im sure that will be pretty ineffeciant for that monster, haha. Like I said im goin for a tone like Suffocation from pierced and up, New Cannibal, just overall a ripping tech death sound.

i do a lot of that, and i must say the shockwave does it very very well. you might want to run an EQ through it, this thing has alot of bass. But i used it without an eq for about a year and i was just as happy with it.

As for cabs, the standard crate blue voodoo cab will do well. thats what i'm running with it. Other than that, just look for 2 ohms cabs or two 4 ohms cabs to run the amp at its full wattage potential. I'm running with 1 4 ohms amp and I still have Plenty of head room.
