Exclamation Represent Your Strings!!!

that's right guys...

tell us your brand and your gauge and don't forget to leave your reasons why...

lets see what strings truely dominate, not through advertising, but through the mouths of the musicians who abuse them!!!

for me, at this time, it's got to be D'addario...10-46 for standard tuning and 10-52 for drop tuning...I am open to new possibilities, but so far, nothing else comes close!!!

I use D'addario 8 gauge strings.. No idea why , but they seem to be cheap , and last alot longer than Ernie Balls. As for why i use the really thin ones...i dunno they just have a sharper tone rather than some really thick tone.

D'addario's are the best and most consistent string I've used.

I also like DR's.

Range from 9's to 12's and everything in between, depending on tunings.

I'm using Ernie Ball Power Slinky (11-48) with a single EB 60 on the bottom for my 7-strings. I did use 10-52 but the top was too light and the bottom too heavy.
I've played a 60 for ages, even on my 6-strings.

I used D'Addario for a long time on my 6-strings and they are incredible, but I couldn't find a 1. - 11, 6. - 48, 7. - 60 set. If I do, it's likely I'll convert to them again. I used the Jazz Medium set (56 bottom) until I decided I needed a bit more tension (at A).

I'm the only person that uses Elixers? They're so fucking great! I dare anyone to go out and buy some Elixer Acoustic strings and tell me they don't sound incredible, add tone, and last a decade.

I go through electric strings quickly so I can't always get Elixer strings (they're pricey) so I usually go with D'addarios or Ernie Balls.

D'addarios 13-56. They last the longest to me and are most consistent out of all the strings i've tried out.

I use DR strings. They are great. They stay in tune (which is an important thing for me), they seem to keep their tone a lot longer than any of the other strings I've played.

The main ones I use are
I use DR :
High Beams Light N' Heavy 10-52.
High Beams .09-42
High Beams: 13-56

I also use different gagues for different tunnings but I always use DR High Beams.

This is kind of funny, I guess... And it pertains to this post.

I went to the store today and bought a pack of 9's, 11's, 12's, and 11 hybrids. All D'Addarios. So I guess that sums up what I use...

i chose ernie ball because most of the strings on my guitar are ernie ball (5 out of 6).

my gauge is:

11, 15, 18, 30, 40, 64

i tune to drop B, and that size is perfect low tuning stability and flexibility enough for "shred". it feels just like a guitar with 9's tuned to E standard

the 11, 15, 18, 30 and 40 are all ernie ball, the 64 is d'addario, this is because ernie ball only make singles up to 58...or is it 56...? im not sure, i just couldnt find one in the 60's.

however in the future i may change the tuning to drop c, which sounds tighter. the string tension with drop c is too tight with the current gauge, so i may have to change that if i decide to stick with drop c.

btw, pinch harmonics sound a million times better with larger strings and droping the tunning...well it sounds better to me!

D'Addario XL 7 String - 9-54.... take out the .24 if im using my 6 string guitars, although i am considering getting some 60s or 58s for the B on the 7 string, for a little extra tightness. I've got to have light tops though, might even get 8.5 someday.

10's tuned in D is the absolute perfect tension for me. Just perfect.

I just put a set of D'Addario 11's on a guitar that I tune to Drop C, and they work the best for me. It sounds really good, and as soon as they get stretched out and I lock the nut, they will really work out good. They have a very buttery feel to them. I almost think the tension is on the loose side.

Standard = D'Addario 9-42
Varied Tunings = D'Addario 10-45* (I forgert the low E guage)
B Standard = D'Addario 12-52

Why? Cause I said so, that why.

I like Dean Markleys 52-11's, but I want to try D'Addario's and DR's. I've tried those GHS ones and they're nice but don't last...

Buy GHS Fast Fret, that brings dull old strings back to life. Or just try strings that last longer.

i use Daddario XL's with a wound blues third, the tone is awesome and the sound of the power chords on the 3rd and 4th does'nt sound all twangey and bright. on my other guitar i use ernie ball not-even-slinkeys those things rip if your playing in lower tunings such as A or B. usually the tone in those tunings are really muddy, but those will sound crystal clear.

i use DR 11-50 for anywhere from standard to 2 steps down, C standard.
the work perfect for D, though, i go a half gauge up for each half step down, normally.

D'addario 10-46...

the tone is good, they last longer than both ghs and ernie ball, and you can buy them in a 25 set pack for $60.00...that saves me $40.00 from buying them seperately

DM strings. 11-52 for D and C#. 10-46 for Eb and E. 13-56 for C and B. And those bigass GHS strings for whenever I feel like playing some Nile.

d'ad 9's. i used to use 10s when i had a les paul, but i've found 9s to be much better on my rg 570.. really like the bends and vibratos much more with smaller strings when using the FR bridge.

I'm the only person that uses Elixers? They're so fucking great! I dare anyone to go out and buy some Elixer Acoustic strings and tell me they don't sound incredible, add tone, and last a decade.

Yeah, dude. Elixers have A nice Rich low end, and last forever. Anything else just goes quick.

I use D'Adarios guage 10's with an extra 22 to replace the unwound G-string.

DR for me. I've tried a lot of strings and they just work out the best for me. I don't break as many strings with them and they seem to last the longest, besides Elixers but those are so damn expensive I never buy them.

Ernie Ball Skinny/Heavy 10-52

I've just always used them, mainly because everyone that i know uses them and they've always worked and are reasonably priced

damn I screwed up...I used to use dean markley blue steels, but I now use Everly X-Rocker strings 16-60 gauge. I tune down to standard A#. The tension and life of these strings are awesome. And I like how they sound.

Yep, 10-56 for me (on a 7 string). I tried out some heavy gauge Ernie Balls on my other guitar but I don't like em quite as much...
