Cubase 3
lol, well. im sure that title will repell any one with a legitimate answer to my question. but Im laughing about it.
ok, ok Ill stop waisting your time. I got a new recording program called Cubase SE 3 for my birthday, and before I open it up I just wanted to know if any of you guys had any experience with it and your impressions of it. Im not really big on this kind of stuff (my dad bought it for me... yeah im clueless ) I just want to record some of my stuff.
so anyway, are there simpler programs out there that might suite me better? or should i stick with this? just wana get some info before I head to the store, the electronics and recording guys there just confuse me, hehe. never get anything out of talking with them.

I was going to answer you with some great essential info.
But since you failed so hard by using that as the topic i'm not going to tell

If you want to just record, something like SoundForge would be less overkill for your needs. Cubase is good though, just take the time to read up on the ins-and-outs of the program so you get the most out of it, its pretty powerful

I'm going to temporarily hijack this thread. Why can't I use a standard audio card with CuBase? I have another card specifically for recording but it doesn't work with my current PC, so I am using the stock soundcard. Thanks
Cheers

It's good for midi in my experience. If you want stuff that'll help recording, on windows, and don't have a drummer etc.etc. Fruity Loops, Acid, Sound Forge & Adobe Audition should be purchased.

Cool Edit Pro 2 is pretty good too..
I use it to record myself playing.. it sounds "decent2 even with a cheap computer mic.

sonar sucks if you ask me. it was glitchy beyond functionality for my computer. it was too complicated for what it was. its a step above cooledit in terms of sound processing ability but you can just install all the plugins to cooledit and then never have to use sonar again.

I've tried and tried and tried, I don't think it's possible - whenever I open a file it just displays the left and right channel - if you want multi-tracking, gay-tools, Audition or Acid are better.

Sound Forge I'm pretty damn sure is just a editing program that allows you to tweak individual tracks. I'm not even sure if you can record on it. But with the higher quality recording programs, like the new Cubase, Sound Forge becomes obsolete.

I've never used it. Have you used Cubase, Simmo? I hear its about the same as Cubase but I'd like to hear a first hand opinion.
