Monitoring system

I set up a monitoring system, it has the samson servo 300 poweramp, alesis 3630 compressor and a 16 channel yamaha mixer. I mic 2 guitars with it (sm57's) and i get alot of feed back, is the only way to eliminate this is with a feed back eliminator?

i dont know, but i'm sure a feedback eliminator would eliminate the feedback.

doesnt your compressor have a gate? you might want to sell it and get one that does, like a dbx or behringer(dont laugh, im serious) rack compressor/gate.
